Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Heading to injured list
Strasburg was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with carpal tunnel neuritis in his right hand, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Strasburg has dealt with a nerve issue in his right hand since the beginning of the season, and it flared up during the first inning of Friday's game against the Orioles. Although he pitched through the injury over the past few weeks, he'll now get some time to recover before heading back to the mound. It's unclear how long Strasburg will be sidelined as a result of the injury.

Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Cleared to resume activity
Alcantara (illness) was cleared for reinstatement Sunday and will begin working at the Marlins' alternate training site, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Alcantara was one of the Marlins who tested positive for COVID-19 in early August, but he'll resume baseball activities in Jupiter prior to rejoining the major-league roster. It's unclear what shape the right-hander is in, but a better timeline for his return to the big leagues could come into focus once he's able to work at alternate camp.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Earns win against Angels
Kershaw (2-1) earned the win Friday against the Angels, giving up one run on one hit and two walks. He tossed seven innings and fanned six.
Kershaw was masterful Friday against the Angels, as the only run -- and hit -- he gave up was a solo shot from Anthony Rendon in the bottom of the fifth. Kershaw bounced back after an ugly start against Arizona on Aug. 8 and has posted a 2.65 ERA with a stellar 0.82 WHIP and 9.5 K/9 in his first three outings of the season. His next scheduled start will come on the road against the Mariners on Thursday.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Stellar in no-decision
Cueto didn't factor into the decision in Friday's game between the Giants and the Athletics. He gave up two runs on three hits and two walks while fanning five across seven innings.
Cueto posted his first quality start of the season and, even though he was unable to secure his second win of the campaign, the veteran hurler appears to have returned to form after a couple of years lost to injuries. Cueto has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his first five starts and has a 4.62 ERA in 25.1 innings. He gets the Angels at home in his next start, scheduled for Aug. 19.

Kyle Wright SP | CHC
Braves' Kyle Wright: Struggles with command in loss
Wright (0-3) lasted just three innings while giving up three runs on two hits and six walks as in an 8-2 loss to the Marlins on Friday. He struck out just one batter.
It's been a rough first couple of weeks for Wright, who more than likely would have already been removed from the Braves' starting rotation if they weren't so desperate for healthy arms. The 2017 first-round pick has given up 17 hits with a poor 12:16 K:BB over 15 innings. His next start is scheduled for Thursday against Washington, another powerful offense that should present Wright with another challenge.

Pablo Lopez SP | MIN
Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Cruises to easy victory
Lopez (2-1) allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out eight over six innings as he earned his second win of the season Friday against the Braves.
After struggling in 2019 with a 5.09 ERA and just 95 strikeouts across 111.1 innings, Lopez has been a pleasant surprise for a depleted Marlins rotation that surely isn't taking his production for granted. Friday's performance was his first quality start of 2020 as he also managed to rack up a season-high eight strikeouts. The Marlins' roster is full of young talent and at just 24, Lopez has the potential to stick around in the rotation for many years to come. His next scheduled start will be Wednesday at home against the Mets, a team he struggled against earlier this month.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Rewarded with first win
Peralta (1-1) picked up the win in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Cubs, allowing only one hit over two scoreless innings of relief while striking out five.
Entering the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and one out, Peralta needed only eight pitches to strike out Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber to end the Chicago rally. A three-run blast by Christian Yelich in the top of the sixth then made Peralta the winner. The right-hander has been incredible in long relief lately, reeling off nine shutout innings with an absurd 19:2 K:BB over his last three appearances, but whether that run of dominance will encourage the Brewers to give him another look in the rotation remains to be seen.
-
Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Returns to dominant form
Gray (4-1) allowed one run on five hits while walking a batter and striking out 10 in 6.2 innings as he helped the Reds to an easy 8-1 victory over the Pirates on Friday night.
There wasn't much doubt that Gray would bounce back after he was roughed up by the Brewers for his first loss last Sunday. The right-hander reached double-digit strikeouts for the second time this season and has now given up one earned run or less in four of his first five starts. Gray currently leads the majors in strikeouts (45) and is tied atop the leaderboard in quality starts (4) and wins (4). His next scheduled start is supposed to come Thursday on the road against the Cardinals, but due to complications in the St. Louis clubhouse because of COVID-19, the Reds may act as the away team in their home stadium, which should massively benefit Gray as he boasts a 0.96 ERA over four home starts this season.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Escapes with no-decision
Woodruff didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 4-3 win over the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
The right-hander tossed four scoreless innings but got tagged in the fifth, and Woodruff exited the game in line for a loss before Christian Yelich bailed him out with a three-run blast in the sixth. Woodruff threw 86 pitches (59 strikes), and his inefficiency continues to limit his ability to record wins despite a strong 3.16 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through 25.2 innings over five starts. He'll next take the mound Wednesday in Minnesota.
