Rays' Jake Woodford: Lands with Tampa Bay
Woodford agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Woodford was cast off the Cubs' 40-man roster Tuesday and elected free agency a few days later. It didn't take long for the right-hander to find work, as he'll be brought in by the Rays on a minor-league deal to serve as pitching depth. Woodford owns a 7.18 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with 23 strikeouts across 26.1 innings in the big leagues this season between stops in Milwaukee and Chicago.

Woodford entered with a large lead following Milwaukee's eight-run sixth inning and provided length out of the bullpen, tossing three scoreless innings to finish the game. It was his first save as a Brewer and the fourth of his career. The outing also helped the right-hander stabilize after he had allowed six runs over his previous 7.1 innings. Brewers' Abner Uribe: Clutch save against Miami
Uribe earned the save in the Brewers' 5-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday, recording the final two outs of the ninth inning.
The Brewers held a 5-1 lead going into the ninth, and manager Pat Murphy initially elected to keep Jake Woodford in the game after the latter pitched a scoreless eighth. Woodford proceeded to load the bases on three-straight singles, prompting Murphy to turn Uribe to record the final two outs. Uribe got Agustin Ramirez to groundout into a fielder's choice that drove in a run, but the right-hander came away with the save after retiring Javier Sanoja. Both of Uribe's saves have come over his last three outings, but Trevor Megill may not have been available Saturday -- he worked the prior two days and converted his previous save chance Friday. Uribe and Megill appear to be splitting ninth-inning work, at least for now.

The Brewers acquired Woodford from the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for K.C. Hunt and selected Woodford's contract from Triple-A Nashville.

Diamondbacks' Jake Woodford: Collects third save
Woodford walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his third save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Rangers.
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo continues to mix and match at the back of his bullpen, as Andrew Saalfrank worked the eighth inning against the heart of the Texas order before Woodford handled the ninth. The 28-year-old right-hander still has two of the Diamondbacks' last three saves, with Taylor Rashi getting the other and all three of Woodford's saves have come since Aug. 23. His ratios don't make a compelling case for consistent high-leverage usage however, and over 20 innings since the beginning of August, Woodford's posted a 4.95 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB.

Diamondbacks' Jake Woodford: Picks up second save
Woodford walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Dodgers.
Both Jalen Beeks and Kyle Backhus were deployed earlier in the game, with Backhus getting arguably the toughest assignment against the top of the Dodgers' order in the eighth inning. Woodford didn't have a cakewalk, facing the heart of the order, but he was able to get the job done to earn his second save of the season. He's added a hold and two blown saves while posting a 5.34 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB through 28.2 innings this season. Woodford has multi-inning potential, which may keep him out of high-leverage situations, but late-inning opportunities remain up for grabs with Arizona utilizing a closing committee to protect leads.

Diamondbacks' Jake Woodford: Charged with blown save
Woodford (0-1) allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one over 1.2 innings, taking the loss and a blown save in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Houston.
Woodford came on in the eighth inning with the Diamondbacks leading, 1-0. After getting the first batter to ground out, he gave up a walk and then hung a sweeper to Brice Matthews, who hammered it into the seats in left field for a two-run home run. Woodford stayed in for the ninth, gave up a pair singles and was charged with Houston's final run. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo had already used Kevin Ginkel, perhaps the team's highest-leverage arm, to get out of the seventh inning and had to adapt in the later innings. Woodford has appeared in five games since joining the team earlier this month and has a 4.35 ERA with six strikeouts and four walks over 10.1 innings.
