Lorenzen (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief Tuesday against the Brewers after allowing four runs on three hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.

Lorenzen had logged 12 straight scoreless outings and hadn't allowed a single run before melting down in this one. He entered the game with a 4-1 lead, and by the time he departed the mound, the Brewers were up 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way. As a result, his ERA spiked to 2.63 -- though given it was just the case of one bad outing, fantasy managers shouldn't be overly concerned and should continue trusting the seven-year veteran.

Mahle didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Brewers after tossing 5.2 innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and a walk while fanning eight.

Mahle has given up two or fewer runs in three of his last four starts and has fanned at least seven three times over that stretch as well, so he's been pitching well in recent weeks. He owns a 3.64 ERA while posting two quality starts across five appearances this month, a span in which he's also recorded an impressive 10.6 K/9.

Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said Flaherty is dealing with a strained right shoulder and will be placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

After missing two and a half months with an oblique strain, Flaherty returned from the IL on Aug. 13 and lasted three starts before going down with another injury. Fortunately for Flaherty, the tests he underwent after exiting Tuesday's loss to the Tigers revealed no structural damage to his shoulder, but the right-hander still looks like far from a safe bet to make it back from the IL in the minimum 10 days. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Flaherty had been nursing soreness in the shoulder heading into Tuesday's start and felt fine heading into the contest, only for the shoulder to stiffen up on him between the first and second inning. The Cardinals will likely keep him on a no-throw program for several days before re-evaluating him.

Brubaker (5-13) earned the win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, firing five scoreless innings during which he allowed four hits and three walks while striking out six.

He struggled again with his efficiency, compiling 86 pitches (54 for strikes). The righty went to his slider (40.7 percent) more frequently than on average (34 percent), collecting his highest swinging-strikes total (14) since May. Considering his injury history and increase in year-over innings pitched -- he's totaled 121.1 IP after throwing 47.1 IP in 2020 -- it wouldn't be surprising to see the Pirates shut him down prior to season's end.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Kelly (illness) was scheduled to end his isolation period Tuesday.

Kelly had tested positive for the coronavirus and been in quarantine since Aug. 14. There was no update Tuesday regarding Kelly's status, but Lovullo told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic on Monday that the pitcher is feeling good, though the right-hander will not rejoin the team on its current road trip.

Guerrero underwent Tommy John surgery last week and isn't likely to return to game action until 2023, Ryan Payne of MadFriars reports.

Guerrero pitched in 27 games for Triple-A El Paso this season, registering a 4.02 ERA and 40:18 K:BB across 40.1 innings. The right-hander has yet to earn his first big-league call-up and will now be out of action for a considerable period, possibly until the 2023 campaign.

Darvish (back) threw a bullpen session and took part in fielding practice Tuesday, per MLB.com.

The right-hander has now thrown three bullpens since Friday and appears to be on the verge of a return. Padres manager Jayce Tingler suggested as much Tuesday, saying of Darvish's status, "We're getting close." He could rejoin the rotation as soon as Thursday's series finale with the Dodgers.

Morton (12-5) allowed four runs on six hits with nine strikeouts through five innings, taking the loss in Tuesday's 5-4 defeat to the Yankees.

The strikeouts keep piling up for Morton, but this wasn't one of his masterful outings. Entering play, the 37-year-old hadn't given up a homer since Aug. 1. That streak ended when Giancarlo Stanton went yard in the second, followed by DJ LeMahieu in the fifth. Morton did still find the strike zone with over 70 percent of his pitches, but the four runs allowed won't be doing his ERA any favors nor will his next assignment, as it will likely come against the Dodgers early next week.

Megill (1-3) allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits and no walks while striking out five across 3.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Giants.

Megill allowed four home runs, which accounted for six of the seven earned runs that he was charged with. All four of the long balls were hit by lefties, and homers from hitters of opposite handedness have emerged as a problem for Megill. Of the 11 homers he's surrendered this season, nine have come from hitters who are left-handed. While Megill had a string of several impressive starts to begin his big-league career, he's now allowed four or more earned runs in three of his last five starts, inflating his ERA to 4.07 across 59.2 innings.

Small (finger) reported to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Small landed on the shelf in mid-July with a strained tendon in his left middle finger, and he'll start a rehab stint in hopes of rejoining Triple-A Nashville for the end of the minor-league campaign. The left-hander has a 1.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 73:30 K:BB across 56 innings between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season.
