  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Takes no-decision Sunday

Mahle allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Sunday. Mahle was mostly able to limit mistakes, but the Rockies still got enough traffic on the bases to make this a tough outing. He has given up just one home run over three starts since he returned from a hamstring strain, which has helped him avoid truly awful starts. He's still struggling overall with a 5.70 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 69:29 K:BB through 71 innings over 14 starts. Mahle is lined up for a rematch at home versus the Rockies in his next start.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Reverts to poor form Monday

Mahle (1-8) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss Monday versus the Diamondbacks. Mahle looked good in his return from a month-long absence due to a hamstring injury last week versus the Athletics, but he couldn't repeat the effort. Due to the injury, he's faced the Diamondbacks in three of his last four games, allowing a total of 13 runs over 14.1 innings against them. For the season, he has a 5.67 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 64:29 K:BB through 66.2 innings over 13 starts. Mahle will probably have a hard time getting back on track over the weekend in a tough road matchup in Colorado.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Strong showing in return

Mahle allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Wednesday. Mahle missed about four weeks due to a hamstring strain. He was pretty good in his return, throwing 44 of 70 pitches for strikes, but the Giants didn't get on the board until the ninth inning, leaving him with a no-decision. On the year, Mahle has a 5.49 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 61:26 K:BB over 62.1 innings across 12 starts. The veteran right-hander's time off while injured could help him reset after his poor form to begin the campaign. He is lined up to make his next start on the road in Arizona.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Back from IL, starting Wednesday

The Giants reinstated Mahle (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Wednesday against the Athletics in San Francisco. Before being shelved May 29 due to a left hamstring strain, the 31-year-old posted a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB in 56.2 innings. Tristan Beck was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to make room on the active roster for Mahle, who could be operating with a workload restriction in his return to the rotation after covering three innings and tossing 63 pitches in his lone rehab start with Sacramento last week.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Rejoining rotation Wednesday

Giants manager Tony Vitello said Friday that Mahle (hamstring) will rejoin the rotation Wednesday against the Athletics, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Mahle was wild in his first and only rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday in issuing five walks over three innings, but he managed to escape with only one run allowed. The right-hander threw 63 pitches in the outing, so he will not be available for a full workload versus the A's. Vitello declined to reveal whose rotation spot Mahle will be taking, but it will likely be either Trevor McDonald or Adrian Houser getting the boot.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Begins rehab assignment

Mahle (hamstring) allowed one earned run on one hit and five walks while striking out three over three innings in Triple-A Sacramento's 10-1 win over Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Mahle hasn't played in the big leagues since May 26 after landing on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, but he's progressing toward a return to San Francisco. The veteran right-hander struggled with his command Tuesday, issuing five walks while throwing 33 of his 63 pitches for strikes, though he limited the damage to just one run. Before going on the IL, the 31-year-old posted a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB across 56.2 innings in 11 starts.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Ready for rehab assignment

Mahle (hamstring) had been scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday before the game was postponed due to heavy rain in Sugar Land. Mahle has been on the shelf for about two and a half weeks due to a left hamstring strain, so he's unlikely to require an extended minor-league assignment before being deemed ready to return from the 15-day injured list. As a result of Sunday's postponement, it's unclear whether the Giants still intend to have Mahle make a rehab start for an affiliate over the next day or two, or if he'll instead opt to throw a simulated game. Mahle had posted a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB in 56.2 innings over 11 starts with the Giants prior to landing on the IL.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Lands on IL with hamstring strain

The Giants placed Mahle on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to a left hamstring strain, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Mahle may have tweaked his hamstring during his last start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, when he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings, taking his seventh loss of the season in the process. He's eligible to be reinstated from the IL in mid-June, but the Giants will have a better sense of Mahle's recovery timeline once he undergoes further tests on his hamstring. Logan Webb (knee) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move, but with Mahle now sidelined, the Giants may call up a starter from Triple-A Sacramento if they wish to maintain their six-man rotation.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Takes third straight loss

Mahle (1-7) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Mahle has allowed three or more runs in five of his last six starts, but he has covered at least five innings in each of those games. While he's eating innings, he's now six starts removed from his lone win of the year, taking four losses in that span. Mahle has a 6.04 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB through 56.2 innings over 11 starts on the year. The veteran right-hander as partially benefited from a favorable home park -- he has a 3.90 ERA at home compared to an 8.88 ERA on the road. Mahle's next outing is projected to be at Milwaukee.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Handed sixth loss

Mahle (1-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks after giving up six runs on eight hits while walking none and striking out six across five innings. Mahle was in decent shape Wednesday until the fifth inning, when Arizona scored thrice on four hits to take the lead for good. It marks Mahle's third straight outing allowing four or more runs to elevate his ERA to 6.10 through 10 starts this season. His six losses are tied with six others for the most in MLB. The 31-year-old is projected for a home rematch against the Diamondbacks next week.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Yields five runs in loss

Mahle (1-5) allowed five runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings to take the loss Friday versus the Athletics. Mahle did a fair job until the fifth inning, when he allowed a three-run home run to Nick Kurtz and an RBI single to Henry Bolte. This marks the fifth time Mahle has allowed at least four runs this season, though this is the first time all year he's had two poor outings in a row. The 31-year-old is now at a 5.59 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB through 46.2 innings over nine starts. He's projected for a road start versus the Diamondbacks in his next outing.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Allows two homers in no-decision

Mahle gave up four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Sunday. Mahle gave up solo shots to Konnor Griffin and Oneil Cruz during this start. This is the third time Mahle's given up multiple homers in an outing this season, but he's yielded no other long balls in his other five starts. The eight strikeouts were also a season high for the right-hander. He's pitched to a 5.18 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 42:20 K:BB through 41.2 innings this season. Mahle is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Athletics.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Dazzles over 5.1 innings Sunday

Mahle didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Rays, allowing four hits and one walk with five strikeouts across 5.1 shutout innings. Mahle was in line for the victory before Ryan Walker allowed the tying run to cross in the bottom of the eighth. Sunday was Mahle's second scoreless outing in his last three starts, and all four hits he allowed to Tampa Bay were singles. After posting an ugly 7.23 ERA through his first four starts, Mahle now owns a 5.00 ERA and 34:18 K:BB across 35 innings. The right-hander should make his next start in next weekend's home series against the Pirates.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Gives up five runs in loss

Mahle (1-4) took the loss against the Phillies on Tuesday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings. Mahle yielded just one run through the first five innings of Tuesday's start, but he was pulled in the sixth after giving up back-to-back RBI doubles and was tagged for four runs in the frame. It's been an inconsistent start to the season for the veteran right-hander, who has given up two runs or fewer in three of six starts while giving up five or more runs in his other three outings. Mahle will bring a 5.87 ERA and 1.63 WHIP (over 30.2 innings) into his next start, tentatively lined up for this weekend on the road against the Rays.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Rebounds in scoreless start

Mahle took a no-decision Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing no runs on three hits and four walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out six. Mahle scattered three singles in what was an impressive bounce-back start versus a potent Philadelphia lineup. The right-hander had given up seven runs over his first nine innings before Wednesday's performance, though the Phillies did make the hurler work while drawing four walks on the afternoon. Mahle's 4.30 ERA through 14.2 innings still has room for improvement, and he'll also carry a shaky 1.57 WHIP into an unfavorable setting his next out at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park versus the Reds.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Loses again Friday

Mahle (0-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings to take the loss versus the Mets on Friday. Three of the five runs on Mahle's line came from long balls, as Marcus Semien hit a two-run blast and Francisco Alvarez added a solo shot in the fourth inning. Mahle allowed just five homers over 86.2 innings across 16 regular-season starts last year while also maintaining a 2.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 66:29 K:BB. He typically doesn't have too much trouble with homers despite giving up plenty of contact in the air. He's allowed seven runs while posting a 9:3 K:BB over nine innings across two starts this season. Mahle is projected to make his next start at home versus the Phillies.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Fans five in team debut

Mahle (0-1) took the loss Saturday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in four innings. He struck out five. The 31-year-old right-hander was coming off an excellent spring, during which he fired 10 shutout frames, but he stumbled in a stiff challenge Saturday against a fearsome Yankees lineup. Shoulder issues plagued Mahle last season with the Rangers, but he was outstanding when healthy with a 2.18 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 16 regular-season starts. That said, his streaming appeal might be a bit limited in a tough matchup against the Mets in his next scheduled start.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Scoreless spring continues

Mahle allowed one hit while striking out six across four scoreless innings in Monday's 3-1 Cactus League loss to the Padres. Mahle gave up a double in the third inning but turned in a strong outing overall, throwing 37 of his 54 pitches for strikes. The 31-year-old has yet to allow a run through four Cactus League starts this spring, surrendering two hits and seven walks while striking out 13 across 10 innings. The veteran right-hander was limited to 16 starts for the Rangers in 2025 due to a shoulder strain, finishing the campaign with a 2.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 66:29 K:BB across 86.2 innings.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Set for spring debut Saturday

Mahle (illness) will make his Cactus League debut Saturday against the Athletics, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Mahle has been slowed early on in Giants camp by an illness, but he's been cleared for game action. The right-hander was limited to only 16 starts in 2025 with the Rangers because of shoulder issues, but he finished the season healthy before inking a one-year, $10 million contract with San Francisco over the winter.

  • Giants' Tyler Mahle: Under the weather

Mahle has been battling through an illness but is expected to face hitters next week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Mahle has fallen behind in spring training while under the weather, but the illness isn't considered a long-term concern that will keep the 31-year-old right-hander sidelined for long. Mahle signed a one-year deal with the Giants in late December after spending the last two seasons with the Rangers. He appeared in 16 games for Texas in 2025, finishing 6-4 with a 2.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 66:29 K:BB across 86.2 innings.
