Sanchez (shoulder) will throw two innings in a simulated game Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear exactly where Sanchez stands in his recovery, but he is ready to get back on the bump. While Sanchez may have a chance to pitch for the Marlins before the campaign comes to a close, it was reported in June that he was considered unlikely to do so.

Meyer (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

With the procedure now behind him, Meyer will begin working his way back from the elbow injury he suffered in late July. It remains to be seen how long he will need to recover, but chances are he will miss most or all of the 2023 campaign.

Miller gave up six runs (five earned) in just 1.1 innings in his most recent start for Double-A Tulsa, and he currently owns a 4.87 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season.

Miller's strikeout numbers (11.3 K/9) and FIP (3.01) look good, but his results have been mighty inconsistent. In the start before that blowup, he struck out 11 over six strong innings -- and in the start before that, he struck out just two and didn't make it out of the third inning. That start-to-start volatility hints at considerable risk for fantasy purposes, but looking at the profile more broadly, Miller's ability to miss bats and keep the ball in the yard (just seven homers in 77.2 innings) offers a lot of promise. He's also still fairly inexperienced despite being 23 years old, having only thrown 134 minor-league frames across two seasons after COVID washed out his draft season in 2020.

Montgomery (leg) will start Friday in St. Louis in the Cardinals' series opener with the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

After being acquired from the Yankees last Tuesday, Montgomery made his Cardinals debut against his former team over the weekend. The southpaw was brilliant in the outing, allowing only three baserunners over five shutout innings before departing after experiencing cramping his legs. The Cardinals described Montgomery's removal from the contest as precautionary, and the 29-year-old apparently checked out fine following his between-starts bullpen session. Montgomery shouldn't face any restrictions this weekend while he makes his second start for St. Louis.

The Reds list Dunn as their scheduled starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Cubs at Great American Ball Park.

After getting a call-up from Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Dunn will wind up with a two-start week while the Reds are short on healthy rotation opens with Hunter Greene (shoulder) and Robert Dugger (shoulder) both going on the injured list in recent days. Dunn was dealt the loss in his Reds debut Monday against the Mets, covering 4.2 innings and striking out two while allowing three earned runs on five hits and two walks.

Bassitt (9-7) picked up the win in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Reds, allowing an unearned run on eight hits and a walk over eight innings. He struck out eight.

The veteran right-hander gave the Mets the length they needed after the team's bullpen was pushed to the breaking point over the weekend against Atlanta. Bassitt tossed 114 pitches (75 strikes) in delivering his eighth quality start in his last nine outings dating back to June 14, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.19 ERA. 0.97 WHIP and 55:11 K:BB through 61.2 innings.

Dunn (0-1) took the loss Monday, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Reds fell 5-1 to the Mets. He struck out two.

The former Mariner didn't pitch poorly in his Reds debut, settling down after a first-inning homer by Starling Marte to last 70 pitches (44 strikes), but he got little help from his offense. Dunn began the season on the 60-day IL due to shoulder trouble and posted a rough 6.92 ERA in seven Triple-A starts prior to his promotion, but he'll likely have a long leash on a patchwork Reds staff that still has double-digit arms on the injured list, including Hunter Greene (shoulder).

Henry tweaked the grip on his slider and curveball and plans to use it in Tuesday's start against Pittsburgh, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

The change was suggested by pitching coach Brent Strom, who instructed Henry to hold the ball deeper in his hand for both pitches. Strom said he's worked with many pitchers that had good curveballs, including Nolan Ryan, who held the ball farther into their hand. Henry, whose grip on both pitches gradually changed over time without him noticing, responded well to the adjustment during a bullpen session Saturday and will bring it with him Tuesday, his second career MLB start. "It's really about giving myself space to rip down on it and pull down on it," Henry said. The left-hander worked around shaky command in his first major-league start against the Guardians last week, allowing one run through four innings before being done in by a three-run home run in the fifth.

Snell (4-6) allowed one run on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Giants.

Snell loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth inning but escaped the threat after giving up just one run. Aside from that, the 29-year-old southpaw didn't face much resistance from San Francisco's lineup. He's now allowed one run or fewer in four consecutive starts and six of his last seven dating back to the start of July. During that stretch, Snell has posted a 57:17 K:BB while lowering his season ERA from 5.60 to 3.96. He'll look to continue his dominant stretch in Washington this weekend.

Wood (8-9) yielded three hits over 6.1 shutout innings, striking out five and earning a win over the Padres on Monday.

Wood coughed up just three singles and, at one point, he retired nine consecutive batters. It was a promising start after the Dodgers piled six runs on him in his last outing. Wood lowered his ERA to 4.17 alongside a 110:26 K:BB through 22 starts. He's projected to face the Pirates at home this weekend.
