The Cardinals recalled Kiekhefer from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Kiekhefer will take the roster spot of Mike Leake (shingles), who was placed on the disabled list. Kiekhefer appeared in 15 games with the Cardinals earlier this season and posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 11:2 K:BB over 14 innings. He will work situationally and in middle relief.

Jansen struck out one in a clean inning of work to earn his 39th save of the season Sunday versus the Cubs.

Working for the third consecutive day, Jansen was no worse for wear, throwing 10 of his 12 pitches for strikes while retiring the side in order. Jansen blew Friday's save opportunity, but he bounced back with a couple of successful conversions. Given that he has now pitched six times in the last eight days, he will likely be unavailable for Monday's series opener at Coors Field.

Stewart was excellent in Sunday's start versus the Cubs, tossing five shutout innings with eight strikeouts compared to just two walks. He did not factor into the decision.

Stewart threw an impressive 71 percent of his pitches for strikes, including an impressive 18 of the swinging variety, but the offense couldn't generate anything against opposing starter John Lester, costing him a shot at a win. This was Stewart's best outing of the season at the big league level by far, as his ERA still sits at an inflated 7.94, but he is not currently scheduled to remain in the rotation.

Ottavino struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Sunday to notch his second save of the season in a win over the Nationals.

It's been over two weeks since Ottavino recorded his first save, and it comes on the heels of him blowing an opportunity Saturday in the Rockies' 9-4 extra-inning win. The team seems committed to him as the closer for the remainder of the year, but save chances could remain hard to come by given the team's tendency to both win and lose big.

Gsellman (1-1) allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk over six-plus innings while striking out five in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

It wasn't a terrible outing for Gsellman, who threw first-pitch strikes to 19 of 24 batters and held Philly to just one run through six innings before the wheels came off in the seventh, but he got almost no run support from a Mets lineup missing Yoenis Cespedes (quad) and Neil Walker (back). New York hasn't yet announced whether Gsellman will remain in the rotation past this start, but this effort may have earned him another turn.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that De Leon would only receive a September call-up if the team has a need for him, David Vassegh of 570 AM LA Sports reports.

Despite several members of the Dodgers' starting pitchers succumbing to injuries this season that has left the rotation in shambles, the organization has resisted the temptation thus far to promote De Leon, one of their top pitching prospects, to the big leagues. De Leon has only covered 78.2 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season and has posted dominant numbers (2.86 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 98:20 K:BB ratio), so service-time considerations might be the primary reason why the 24-year-old has yet to make his debut.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Coleman will be promoted to the big leagues when rosters expand Sept. 1, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

Coleman, who last appeared for the Dodgers on Aug. 2, is nearing the finish line in his recovery from right shoulder fatigue, which resulted in his move to the DL a little over three weeks ago. The right-hander accrued a 3.70 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 41.1 innings (50 appearances) with the Dodgers prior to his injury and is expected to slide into a middle-relief role once he rejoins the club.

Law was placed on the DL with a strained right elbow.

Law has been a stellar reliever for the Giants this season, producing a 1.94 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 51 innings. The fact that he's dealing with an elbow strain is particularly concerning given that he previous underwent Tommy John surgery in 2014, but it's unclear how much time this injury will cost him. The Giants recalled recalled Jarrett Parker from Triple-A Sacramento to take Law's spot on the 25-man roster.

Montero will be promoted and start Monday in place of Jacob deGrom, whose turn on the rotation os being skipped due to fatigue and to work on mechanical issues, ESPN New York reports.

Montero opened the season at Triple-A Las Vegas but was demoted due to poor performance after he posted a 4.60 ERA in 16 starts with the 51s. With his prospect status diminished and his career possibly hanging by a thread, Montero turned it around at Double-A Binghamton, posting a 1.70 ERA in eight starts, albeit with 19 walks in 47.2 innings pitched. With the rosters expanding Thursday, look for Montero to remain with the Mets as a spot-starter and bullpen arm.

Nelson didn't factor into the decision Saturday versus the Pirates, giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He also recorded a strikeout.

The right-hander didn't have it Saturday, getting into early trouble by allowing an RBI double to Starling Marte in the first. Nelson went on to fall apart in what was a five-run fourth for the Pirates, leading to his ouster after a whopping 84 pitches in less than four frames. Nelson has endured a nightmarish August, posting a 1-4 record and 8.51 ERA over the 24.1 innings encompassing his six starts. He'll look to bounce back in a rematch with Jameson Taillon and the Pirates next Friday.
