  • Brad Goldberg RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Brad Goldberg: Traded to Diamondbacks

The White Sox traded Goldberg to the Diamondbacks on Sunday in exchange for cash, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic Arizona reports.

Goldberg spent the first month of his 2018 season with Double-A Birmingham, where he posted a 2.82 ERA over 22.1 innings of relief. The 28-year-old allowed 11 runs over 11 relief appearances for the White Sox last season. He'll function as bullpen depth for the Diamondbacks in the upper levels of the minors.

  • Tim Collins RP | CHC

Nationals' Tim Collins: Placed on paternity leave

Collins was placed on paternity leave Sunday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Collins will be away from the team as he attends to the birth of his child. With two scheduled off-days this week, the reliever won't be required to rejoin the team until Friday against the Giants. Jefry Rodriguez was recalled from Double-A Harrisburg to fill the void in the bullpen.

  • Jesse Biddle RP | ARI

Braves' Jesse Biddle: Whiffs eight in three relief innings

Biddle struck out eight hitters over three shutout frames of relief Saturday in the Braves' 5-3 win over the Nationals in 14 innings. He yielded a hit and two walks in the outing.

Biddle nearly put himself on the hook for the loss after loading the bases with two outs in the 11th inning, but he struck out Juan Soto to escape the frame unscathed. He avoided trouble the rest of the afternoon, riding his three-pitch mix to a career-high strikeout total. The 26-year-old seems to have found a niche as a long man in the Atlanta bullpen, as he's posted a solid 2.70 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 20 innings.

  • Andrew Suarez RP | BAL

Giants' Andrew Suarez: Throws gem against Phillies

Suarez (2-4) allowed just three hits over seven scoreless innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.

The 25-year-old had hit a rough stretch -- he entered Saturday with an 8.05 ERA in his last four starts -- but Suarez got on track in this one. He was efficient, completing his seven frames on just 86 pitches, and got out of his one real jam with back-to-back strikeouts to end the fifth. Suarez has struggled away from AT&T Park and will be tough to trust next week in Washington, but this outing should put him back on the radar as a home streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Cardinals' Dominic Leone: Waiting on nerve regeneration in arm

Leone (biceps), who's currently on the 60-day disabled list, cannot be cleared to resume throwing until the damaged nerves in his right arm begin to self-regenerate, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Leone was forced out of a May 5 outing with spasms in his throwing arm, and nearly a month later his timetable for picking up a baseball again remains a mystery. While the tingling and numbness Leone initially experienced has subsided altogether, doctors aren't ready to clear him for any throwing due to insufficient nerve regeneration. In the interim, he'll continue to engage in a daily training regimen centered on conditioning, core work and massage therapy, along with some light arm strengthening and shoulder rehab. Given the nature of his injury and extensive absence, Leone figures to eventually need multiple rehab outings before he's deemed ready for a return.

  • Nick Wittgren RP | SEA

Marlins' Nick Wittgren: Heads to disabled list

The Marlins placed Wittgren on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a bruised finger, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Wittgren had a fantastic start to the season with only three runs (one earned) and nine hits allowed across his first 15 appearances, but he gave up five runs on six hits and three walks over his last three outings. The severity of the injury remains unclear and the 27-year-old will be eligible to come off the disabled list June 12.

  • Kyle McGrath RP | SD

Padres' Kyle McGrath: Outrighted to Triple-A

McGrath cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso.

This is not a surprise, as his big-league FIP is 4.85 across 23 innings in 2017 and 2018. He will provide organizational bullpen depth going forward.

  • Jose Castillo RP | NYM

Padres' Jose Castillo: Promoted from Triple-A

Castillo was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

He opened the year at Double-A and received a promotion recently to Triple-A, where he allowed one earned run in 7.1 innings while striking out seven over six appearances. Castillo could gradually earn mid-to-high-leverage opportunities, but he should initially work in the middle innings.

  • Dennis Santana RP | ARI

Dodgers' Dennis Santana: Picks up win in rough outing

Santana (1-0) gave up five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over 3.2 innings Friday but picked up his first major-league victory in an 11-8 win over Colorado.

Though Santana was initially expected to start Friday's contest, manager Dave Roberts opted to go with the growing trend of starting a middle reliever before turning to a starter. This strategy did not put Santana in a better position to succeed -- based off of his poor results -- but he did manage to notch his first win in his first appearance in the majors. The 22-year-old earned this opportunity after posting a 2.54 ERA and 11.8 K/9 in 10 starts across two minor-league levels this season. With Clayton Kershaw (back) joining a myriad of Dodgers starters on the disabled list Friday, Santana could be in line to see a handful of starts (or long-relief appearances) over the next few weeks.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Second rehab start coming Monday

Miller (elbow) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance Monday for Double-A Jackson, the Associated Press reports.

Miller will be pitching on six days' rest after tossing five innings of one-run ball and striking out eight in his first rehab appearance for High-A Visalia on May 29. Miller threw 65 pitches in that outing, so he'll move up to the 75-to-80-pitch range Monday as he continues to build his arm back up following a 13-month layoff due to Tommy John surgery. The Diamondbacks will likely wait and see how Miller looks during Monday's outing before determining if another rehab start is necessary or if he's ready to return from the 60-day disabled list and rejoin the big club.
