Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.
The catcher appeared in two games in the majors after having his contract purchased by Pittsburgh on Sept. 20. He went 2-for-5 with a walk in those contests. Jacob Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday following a concussion that caused him to miss over a week of action.

Pirates' Jacob Stallings: Reinstated by Pirates
Stallings was reinstated from the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The 31-year-old spent just over a week on the injured list but has been participating in baseball activities since last week. Taylor Davis was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the active roster, and Stallings will take over as the primary catcher for the final few games of the regular season.

Cubs' Willson Contreras: Dealing with wrist soreness
Contreras isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates due to wrist soreness, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Although Austin Romine is starting at catcher in Contreras' place Tuesday, the injury isn't considered serious. Manager David Ross said Tuesday that he's hopeful Contreras will be able to return to action Wednesday.

Perez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Perez looks set to finish the season as the Pirates' No. 1 backstop while Jacob Stallings (concussion) remains on the 7-day injured list, but Taylor Davis will handle catching duties Monday while Perez gets a breather. Since Stallings was deactivated a week ago, Perez went 3-for-18 with two walks, three RBI and a run over five games.
