The 23-year-old backstop is 17-for-39 with two homers, three doubles, 12 RBI and seven runs in his past 10 games, and he should continue to operate as Washington's primary catcher for the final week of the regular season. Riley Adams will start behind the plate in his place Sunday.

Barnhart is on the bench Sunday against the Nationals, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barnhart is hitting .096 in his last 10 games after consecutive hitless performances Friday and Saturday. Tyler Stephenson starts behind the dish and catches Sunday's series finale.

Davis went 2-for-3 in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Phillies.

The 31-year-old, who collected a pair of singles Saturday, could work his way into a platoon with Michael Perez while starter Jacob Stallings (concussion) remains sidelined. Davis has slashed .253/.347/.331 at Triple-A with two homers in 176 plate appearances in 2021.

Narvaez is not in Saturday's lineup against the Mets.

Manny Pina will start behind the dish and bat eighth. Narvaez is hitting .204 with zero home runs in 16 games this month.

Ruiz went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Reds.

Ruiz launched a solo shot in the second inning, his second home run of the year and his first as a National. He's gone 15-for-30 (.500) with five multi-hit performances over his last seven games. The rookie catcher is now 19-for-63 (.302) in 17 games since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester.

Caratini isn't starting the second game of Friday's twin bill against Atlanta.

Caratini was behind the dish for the conclusion of the suspended game against Atlanta on Friday, but he'll head to the bench for the nightcap. Although the 28-year-old is in line to serve as the Padres' primary catcher with Austin Nola (thumb) out for the season, Webster Rivas will start behind the dish and bat seventh.
