  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Receives breather Sunday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Diaz started the past five games and will receive a break after going 3-for-22 with an RBI, three runs and seven strikeouts during that span. Austin Wynns is working behind the plate and batting ninth Sunday.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

    Braves' Sean Murphy: Sitting Sunday

Murphy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud have been splitting time behind the plate relatively evenly of late, and d'Arnaud will catch for Charlie Morton on Sunday after Murphy went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run Saturday.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Hits bench Sunday

Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

He'll get a breather in the series finale after he started at either catcher or designated hitter in each of the past five games while going 4-for-20 with a double, a walk and four runs. Jason Delay will step in for Rodriguez behind the dish Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Gets day off

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Contreras will get a well-deserved day off after catching both of the past two days and starting behind the plate or at designated hitter in each of the Cardinals' last 15 games. Andrew Knizner will handle the catching duties in Sunday's series finale.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Enters lineup Sunday

Amaya is starting at catcher and batting ninth in Sunday's game against the Reds.

With Yan Gomes getting a day off, Amaya will enter the lineup for the second time in the last three days. The Cubs did have a doubleheader Friday, otherwise Amaya likely wouldn't have seen the lineup as frequently to begin the month. As long as Chicago remains in the playoff race, the team figures to ride the veteran Gomes, which will keep Amaya on the bench most days.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Cubs' Yan Gomes: Receives Sunday off

Gomes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Gomes is 3-for-21 with a walk and an RBI in his past seven games and will take a seat for Sunday's contest. Miguel Amaya will step in behind the plate to catch for Jameson Taillon.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Goes deep in loss

Moreno went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 7-3 loss to Baltimore.

Moreno's hot stick continued Saturday, but his ninth-inning home run was too little. The blast was the catcher's seventh of the season and fourth in the last 13 games. Since the All-Star break, Moreno has a 1.045 OPS with 11 extra-base hits (five home runs) and 15 RBI over 22 games.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Padres' Gary Sanchez: Knocks homer Saturday

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Giants.

Sanchez has gone 6-for-17 (.353) with two homers and three RBI over his last five games. The veteran catcher is up to 19 long balls this season, putting him one away from his fifth 20-homer season. Through 72 contests, he's slashing .220/.288/.500 with 46 RBI, 33 runs scored and eight doubles. Down the stretch, Sanchez will likely split time behind the dish with Luis Campusano as the Padres try to get the younger catcher some more major-league experience.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Not starting Saturday

Alvarez isn't in the Mets' lineup Saturday against Seattle.

Alvarez will get a breather after going 2-for-13 with an RBI across his last five games. Omar Narvaez will take his place behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Sitting Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday against Miami, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz will catch a breather Saturday after going 3-for-20 with a homer and three RBI across his last six games. Riley Adams will fill in for Ruiz behind the plate, batting seventh.
