  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Serving as primary backstop

Davis will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Tigers. With fellow backstop Endy Rodriguez (hip) recently returning to the injured list, Davis has re-emerged as the Pirates' top option behind the dish. He'll pick up his seventh start in nine games while the Pirates open up a three-game set versus the Tigers. Davis is slashing just .143/.219/.143 with no extra-base hits, two RBI and two runs since the start of August, so he's not doing much to take advantage of his larger share of playing time.

  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Filling in for banged-up Rodriguez

Davis will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Davis will be making his fourth straight start behind the dish while Endy Rodriguez continues to miss time while nursing a hip injury. The Pirates are treating Rodriguez as day-to-day, and if Rodriguez is able to avoid a trip to the injured list and return to the lineup in the near future, Davis will likely see his playing time fall by the wayside.

  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Bound for bench Sunday

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. Davis had started the previous two games, but his playing time is set to take a hit after Endy Rodriguez and Spencer Horwitz came off the injured list. Horwitz should settle back in as the Pirates' everyday first baseman, which will require Rodriguez to get the bulk of his starts behind the plate.

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. Davis will receive a breather for the afternoon contest after starting the first two games of the series. Shawn Ross will pick up his first MLB start at catcher Sunday while Davis rests.

  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Pops seventh homer

Davis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Phillies. Davis led off the third inning with his seventh home run of the season and his third in 14 games since June 3. He's still hit only .188 in that span, though he has started in five of Pittsburgh's last seven games after previously beginning to lose playing time.

  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Goes on paternity leave

The Pirates placed Davis on the paternity list Wednesday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. • Pirates' Henry Davis: Part of timeshare with Rodriguez

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. Though he's seen his playing time pick back up since Joey Bart (foot) landed on the injured list May 12, Davis looks to be part of a timeshare at catcher with Endy Rodriguez. Davis and Rodriguez have now alternated turns behind the dish over the Bucs' last six games.

Davis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Davis will head to the bench after starting behind the plate in each of the previous three games while going 0-for-9 with two strikeouts. Now batting just .137 on the season, Davis could be at risk of falling into more of a timeshare at catcher with Endy Rodriguez, who draws the starting nod Wednesday.

  • Pirates' Henry Davis: Losing playing time

Davis is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals. After starting eight of the first 11 games of the season, Davis has been in the lineup just three times across the past eight tilts. Davis' production at the plate has picked up a bit recently, but he's slashing just .216/.326/.297 overall. Joey Bart (.136/.231/.273) has been even worse, but he might have inched past Davis on the depth chart.
