Padres' Eguy Rosario: Out with sports hernia

Rosario was placed on the 60-day IL on Friday after having surgery for a sports hernia, per MadFriars.

It's been a rough season for Rosario, who fell short in a bid to make the Opening Day roster with the big club and was subsequently DFA'd. The versatile slugger ended up returning to the organization but posted a meager .509 OPS in 29 games with Triple-A El Paso and was then sent to San Diego's ACL team for a reset. Rosario didn't fare much better there, registering a .553 OPS across 12 contests, and he's now slated for a long absence due to the sports hernia surgery. If he returns to action this season, it won't be until at least mid-August.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Nationals' Amed Rosario: Opens scoring with homer

Rosario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Rosario continues to play in a short-side platoon role in the Nationals' infield. His homer Friday was his second in June, but he's gone just 5-for-29 (.172) over 10 games this month. That won't help him push for more playing time in the long run, though he still gets looks against lefties to allow Luis Garcia or Brady House to get rest. Rosario is at a .271/.320/.432 slash line with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles over 126 plate appearances this season.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting Friday

Muncy is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Nationals on Friday.

With the Nationals sending southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the mound, the lefty-hitting Muncy will begin Friday's game on the bench while Miguel Rojas starts at third base and bats ninth. Muncy has slashed .314/.463/.549 with two steals, three home runs and seven RBI in 67 plate appearances since the beginning of June.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Taking seat Friday

Arenado isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Cincinnati, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Arenado will get a chance to catch his breath after playing both games of Thursday's doubleheader, during which he went 3-for-9 while hitting his 350th career home run. Nolan Gorman will fill in at the hot corner and bat fourth for the Cardinals.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Taking seat Friday

Hayes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.

Hayes was also on the bench for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader and has a .558 OPS in June with only one extra-base hit in his past 23 contests. Jared Triolo will receive another start at the hot corner Friday for Pittsburgh.

  • Luke Adams 3B | MIL

Brewers' Luke Adams: Lands on 7-day IL

Adams was placed on Double-A Biloxi's 7-day injured list Friday due to a left shoulder contusion, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Adams suffered the injury in Thursday's game against Knoxville on a collision at home plate. He has spent the entire 2025 season in Double-A and is slashing .236/.419/.472 with 10 steals, 13 doubles, 11 home runs and 38 RBI over 258 plate appearances.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

    Mets' Mark Vientos: Nearing return

Vientos (hamstring) will continue his rehab assignment this weekend and could return as soon as Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Vientos started a rehab assignment Tuesday but has appeared in just one game, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. If all goes well this weekend, Vientos could be back for the start of a three-game set Monday against Atlanta.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Good to go Friday

Baty (groin) is starting at third base and batting eighth Friday against the Phillies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Baty appeared to be in danger of heading to the injured list due to the groin injury, but he'll end up rejoining the lineup Friday after sitting out a few games. The third baseman has yet to get on track in June, as he's gone 6-for-44 (.136 average) through 14 games.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Resting Friday

Caminero is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.

Caminero is getting his first day off since May 21, yielding his spot at third base to Curtis Mead. In his last six games, Caminero is 10-for-22 (.455) with two home runs, seven runs scored, seven RBI and a 5:4 BB:K.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Hits 350th career homer in win

Arenado went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox, an 8-6 extra-inning win.

Arenado had a nightcap to remember Thursday, hitting his 350th career home run in the third inning and what proved to be a game-winning single in the 10th. Per Casey Drottar of MLB.com, he's now the seventh player ever to reach 350 homers while also winning at least 10 career Gold Gloves. While his season slash line sits at just .247/.310/.397, the 34-year-old has decent counting stats with nine long balls, 38 RBI, 34 runs scored and one steal across 294 plate appearances.
