  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Reinstated from IL

The Cubs reinstated Madrigal (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Madrigal landed on the injured list July 4 with a strained right hamstring and will now return to Chicago after a five-game rehab assignment. The 26-year-old infielder went 5-for-18 with four runs scored during his rehab assignment and figures to return as the Cubs' primary third baseman. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting against southpaw

Baty is not in Saturday's lineup against the Nationals.

Baty will open the game on the bench with lefty Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber for Washington. Mark Vientos is starting at third base and batting eighth.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Power surge picks back up

Riley went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 10-7 win over the Brewers.

The third baseman took former teammate Bryse Wilson deep in the seventh inning, giving Riley his seventh homer in the last nine games. It's been another huge summer so far for the 26-year-old slugger, and since June 20 he's slashing .300/.349/.650 with 12 of his 23 homers on the season, plus 28 RBI and 30 runs.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Brewers' Abraham Toro: Pops second homer

Toro went 3-for-4 with a home run, his second of the season, and four RBI in Friday's 10-7 loss to Atlanta.

His three-run shot off Ben Heller in the eighth inning made the final score somewhat respectable, but it was Milwaukee's only homer on the night against three long balls by Atlanta hitters. Toro has hit the ground running after his latest promotion Wednesday, going 4-for-7 in two starts, but the addition of Carlos Santana on Thursday puts one more obstacle between the 26-year-old and a consistent role in the lineup once the Brewers' roster gets healthy again.

  • Nationals' Jeimer Candelario: OK after injury scare

Candelario said after Friday's game against the Mets that he's "fine" and would have been able to hit if his spot in the lineup came up again, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Aggressiveness on the bases led to an injury scare, as Candelario tried to stretch a single into a double in the eighth inning and appeared to hurt his left shoulder. The shoulder apparently checked out OK in between innings, but as he was the DH on Friday, no defensive replacement was necessary. A likely trade candidate, Candelario went 1-for-3 with a walk in the cointest and is now slashing .254/.355/.478 on the season.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Brewers' Brian Anderson: On track for August return

Anderson (back) isn't expected to return from the injured list until early-to-mid August, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Anderson resumed hitting in the cage earlier this week, but he still has some hurdles to clear as he recovers from the lingering back issue that sent him to the IL on July 16. When healthy this season, the 30-year-old third baseman has slashed .229/.317/.373 with nine homers and 38 RBI in 85 games for the Brewers.

  • Eguy Rosario 3B | SD

Padres' Eguy Rosario: Continues rehab assignment

Rosario (ankle) resumed his rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two additional RBI while playing nine innings at second base in a 5-2 win over Round Rock.

Rosario has been stuck on the Padres' 60-day injured list since Feb. 16 after he underwent surgery in the offseason to address a fractured ankle. He began a rehab assignment June 6 at Triple-A, then was shut down for two weeks before returning to action June 22. Rosario had his rehab assignment paused again shortly before the All-Star break, but he resumed playing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last week before reporting back to El Paso. The Padres likely want the 23-year-old to play on an everyday basis, so once he's deemed ready to return from the 60-day IL, he could be optioned to Triple-A.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Giants' J.D. Davis: Clubs 13th homer

Davis went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Athletics.

Davis opened the scoring with his first-inning blast, snapping an 0-for-13 skid at the plate. The corner infielder has struck out at a 33.8 percent rate in July, noticeably higher than his 28.6 percent mark for the season. He's launched 13 homers -- his most in four years -- with 51 RBI, 41 runs scored, a stolen base and a .259/.341/.432 slash line through 95 contests overall.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Two hits, homer in loss

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to Washington.

McMahon had Jake Irvin figured out early, notching a single in his first at-bat against the right-hander before taking him deep in his second trip to the plate to put the Rockies up 2-0. The third baseman came into the contest batting just .190 in July but he's now recorded multiple hits in three of his last four games. With Wednesday's long ball he's now hit exactly four home runs in each month this season.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting against lefty

Baty is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Yankees.

Mark Vientos will start at third base and bat second as the Mets take on southpaw Carlos Rodon. The left-handed-hitting Baty has slashed just .175/.203/.298 in 61 plate appearances versus lefties this year.
