Andruw Monasterio 3B | BOS
Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Goes deep during loss
Monasterio went 3-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's loss to Colorado.
Monasterio was slashing just .174/.296/.217 during August heading into Tuesday's contest, but he was finally able to break out of his slump against the Rockies. The 26-year-old infielder has never hit more than nine home runs in a season throughout his professional career, so his seventh-inning blast off Kyle Freeland isn't something that should be expected from Monasterio going forward. However, he's demonstrated an above-average ability to get on base with a .367 OBP through 158 plate appearances.

Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE
Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Back from IL at Triple-A
Kieboom (oblique) was reinstated from the injured list at Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
After six games with High-A Wilmington, Kieboom is ready to return to Rochester for his first action at the Triple-A level since mid-June. Kieboom has put together a .264/.366/.425 line with three homers and one steal in 26 games with Rochester this season. Now 25 years old, Kieboom's prospect shine is long gone, but if he proves healthy for a stretch at Triple-A, the team could give him one more look in the big leagues.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Reds' Kevin Newman: Steals bag in win
Newman started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Monday's 5-2 win over Miami.
Newman swiped second base in the fourth inning but was stranded there. It was his eighth steal in 70 games. He plays a part-time role for the Reds but has experienced a slight uptick in opportunities with Jonathan India (foot) on the injured list. India had been expected to be activated Tuesday, but the Reds pushed his return back to Friday.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Homers in comeback win
Davis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over the Angels.
Davis has been just alright in August, going 6-for-22 (.273) over six games this month. The third baseman tied Monday's contest at 2-2 with his solo shot, which was his first homer in his last seven games. For the season, he's up to 15 long balls, 56 RBI, 46 runs scored, a stolen base and 15 doubles through 104 contests.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Held out Monday
Hayes is not in the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Hayes went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts over the last two days and is just a few days removed from a multi-week stint on the injured list, so he will get a breather Monday. Jared Triolo will man the hot corner in place of Hayes.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Optioned to Triple-A
Baty was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Baty was hitting .075 with a 34 percent strikeout rate over his last 40 at-bats. Jonathan Arauz is getting promoted in a corresponding move, and Daniel Vogelbach could also see more playing time in the short term, as Mark Vientos will presumably play more third base than designated hitter in the coming days.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Managing hamstring tightness
Machado is batting cleanup and serving as the Padres' designated hitter for the second straight day Monday as he deals with a tight right hamstring.
According to Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union Tribune, Machado tweaked his right hamstring while running from first to third base in the eighth inning of Saturday's contest. The issue wasn't serious enough to keep him out Sunday's lineup, but he served as San Diego's DH rather than taking his usual spot at third base. That will be the case again Monday, as Ha-Seong Kim will start at third while Jake Cronenworth plays second.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Heads to bench Monday
Senzel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.
Though Senzel finds himself on the bench for the series opener with Miami, he started in five of the Reds' first six games of August and went 3-for-20 with a solo home run. With Jake Fraley (toe) recently joining Jonathan India (foot) on the injured list, Senzel could be in store for a near-everyday role in the short term.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Reds' Kevin Newman: Rare start against righty
Newman is starting at second base and batting seventh in Monday's contest versus the Marlins.
Eury Perez is taking the ball for Miami, marking the first time since June 18 that Newman has been in the lineup against a right-hander. Matt McLain is receiving a day off.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Rejoins starting nine
Muncy (wrist) will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Monday's series finale in San Diego.
J.D. Martinez will receive a planned day off Monday to open up the DH spot for Muncy, who had sat out each of the first three games of the series while recovering from the bruised left wrist he sustained Thursday, when he was hit by a pitch in an 8-2 win over the Athletics. Though Muncy bats from the left side of the plate, he throws with his right hand, so the injured wrist shouldn't present too many issues for him in the field while he's able to protect it with his glove. Assuming he checks out fine Monday as the Dodgers' DH, Muncy could be ready to resume starting at third base as soon as Tuesday in Arizona.
