  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Giants' Isan Diaz: Back in majors

The Giants recalled Diaz from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

With Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring) headed to the injured list, Diaz will come up from the minors to give the Giants another bat on their bench. Diaz is slashing .250/.337/.511 across 104 plate appearances in the minors, but has had very limited success throughout his career in the big leagues.

  • Mark Mathias 2B | CIN

Giants' Mark Mathias: Traded to Giants

Mathias was traded from the Mariners to the Giants on Monday along with designated hitter AJ Pollock and cash for a player to be named later, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Mathias was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on July 2 and AJ Pollock might be seen as a negative value contract, so there likely won't be a notable prospect headed back to Seattle. Mathias, who turns 29 on Wednesday, is a career .249/.323/.402 hitter with six home runs and seven steals in 68 big-league games. He'll likely report to the Giants' Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Leading off Monday

Kim (shoulder) is leading off and serving as the designated hitter Monday in Colorado.

He exited Sunday's game with a jammed right shoulder but won't miss any further time with the issue, although he'll be spared from his defensive duties Monday. Kim is slashing .341/.451/.553 with five home runs, eight steals and more walks (15) than strikeouts (14) in 85 at-bats this month.

  • Coco Montes 2B | TB

Rockies' Coco Montes: Recalled from Triple-A

Montes was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

The 26-year-old second baseman was recalled the same day Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day injured list, so Montes should be assuming a bench role. Montes has hit .184 with one home run in 41 MLB plate appearances but slashed .317/.409/.549 in 73 games in the Pacific Coast League.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Set for season debut

Rodgers (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Padres.

The shoulder injury Rodgers suffered in spring training cost him two thirds of the season, and he joins a last-place Rockies team that will be evaluating players for 2024 and beyond, Rodgers included. He hit .265 with one home run and seven strikeouts in 10 rehab games and should replace Harold Castro atop the depth chart at second base.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

    Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Considered day-to-day

Kim is considered day-to-day with a jammed right shoulder, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Kim was removed from Sunday's game against the Rangers after hurting his shoulder while sliding into home. While he's considered day-to-day, manager Bob Melvin said that it's unlikely Kim plays Monday against Colorado.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Braves' Nicky Lopez: Dealt to Atlanta

Lopez was traded from Kansas City to Atlanta on Sunday in exchange for Taylor Hearn.

Lopez recorded double-digit steals in the past two seasons, but he's had a slow start to the 2023 campaign, hitting .210 with 18 runs, 13 RBI and four steals over 67 games. The 28-year-old has defensive versatility that makes him a solid utility man, but he'll likely need to contribute more at the plate if he hopes to carve out playing time with a contending Atlanta club.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Exits with apparent injury

Kim exited Sunday's game against the Rangers in the bottom of the third inning due to an apparent right shoulder injury, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Kim appeared to hurt his right shoulder on a collision while sliding into home on a sacrifice fly, and he immediately headed to the clubhouse under his own power. The severity of his injury isn't yet clear, but he was replaced by Matthew Batten at second base in the top of the fourth inning.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Hopes to miss minimum time

Reds manager David Bell said that he's hopeful that India, who was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Sunday due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, will spend the minimum amount of time on the shelf, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

India acknowledged himself that he could have played through the injury at about 80 percent health, but he and the Reds both agreed that an IL stint would be in his best long-term interest. Since India's placement on the IL is retroactive to Saturday, he'll be eligible for activation Aug. 8. India's move to the IL will create a clearer path for rookie Christian Encarnacion-Strand to continuing seeing regular starts.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Heading to injured list

India was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

India was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to pain in his left heel, and he'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days after an MRI revealed he's dealing with plantar fasciitis, which can often be a lingering long-term injury. It's unclear exactly how long the 26-year-old will be sidelined, but it'll likely be Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain handling the middle-infield work for the near future.
