Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Tallies three RBI in win
McNeil went 2-for-4 with a three-RBI double in Sunday's win over Cleveland.
With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, McNeil smashed a bases-clearing double into right field to extend the Athletics' lead to 7-1, which would hold as the final score. The second baseman has been swinging a hot bat of late, slashing .409/.440/.545 with three doubles, six RBI and one run over his past seven games, raising the veteran's season OPS to .801. It has been a strong year in the batting average department for McNeil, who's hitting north of .300 (.314) for the first time since 2022, when he won the National League batting title and hit .326 across 148 regular-season contests with the Mets.

McNeil recorded his second two-hit game in as many days, driving in runs with an RBI single in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth frame. The veteran has been swinging a hot bat of late, slashing .387/.412/.548 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and three runs across his past 10 games. On the year, McNeil is slashing .306/.375/.408 with a homer, seven doubles, nine RBI, nine runs and a stolen base across 32 contests.

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Getting day off versus lefty
McNeil is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.
With lefty Noah Cameron on the mound for the Royals, McNeil will take a seat, as Zack Gelof makes the start at second base and bats eighth. McNeil has gone just 3-for-15 against left-handed pitching this season but is slashing .307/.361/.413 against righties.

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Blasts first homer Tuesday
McNeil went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Mariners.
McNeil connected on his first homer of 2026, sending a Luis Castillo changeup over the right-field fence for a solo shot in the fourth inning. The second baseman isn't known for his power and hasn't provided much in that department, but he has been solid to start his first season with the Athletics, slashing .278/.361/.389 with a homer, five doubles, five RBI, seven runs and a stolen base across 23 contests.

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Tallies two RBI in loss
Gelof went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.
Gelof drew the start in right field and contributed with his timely double in the seventh inning before being pinch hit for by Jeff McNeil in the ninth. The double marked Gelof's first RBI of the campaign after opening the season at Triple-A Las Vegas and being recalled April 10. The 26-year-old has seen minimal playing time thus far, going 2-for-8 (.250) across seven MLB appearances.

Athletics' Carlos Cortes: Taking seat Sunday
Cortes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Cortes and fellow left-handed hitters Jeff McNeil and Lawrence Butler will hit the bench for the series finale while southpaw Noah Schultz takes the hill for the White Sox. Since Brent Rooker (oblique) landed on the injured list April 10, Cortes has gained a foothold in the Athletics' regular lineup versus right-handed pitching while shuffling between the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter.

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Exits lineup versus lefty
McNeil is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta.
The left-handed-hitting McNeil looks to be in a straightforward platoon at second base, as he's now been absent from the lineup each of the three times the Athletics have gone up against a southpaw. Darrell Hernaiz is covering second base and batting eighth Wednesday.

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Reaches base twice in spring debut
McNeil (shoulder) started at second base and went 1-for-1 with a walk in Sunday's Cactus League loss to the Guardians.
McNeil suited up for the first time as a member of the Athletics and reached base in both plate appearances, though he also committed a fielding error before being lifted Sunday. The veteran underwent thoracic outlet surgery shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 season, so his early participation in spring is an encouraging sign. The 33-year-old hit .243/.335/.411 with 21 doubles, 12 home runs and 54 RBI across 122 regular-season games with the Mets last year and will look to produce for his new club in 2026, likely entrenched at second base to open the campaign.

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Ready for spring debut
McNeil (shoulder) will start at second base and bat sixth in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Guardians, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
McNeil will don an Athletics uniform for the first time after coming over from the Mets in a December trade. He underwent thoracic outlet surgery shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, with his agent later saying that the issue caused McNeil discomfort when he swung the bat late in the campaign. Entering his age-34 season, he figures to benefit from a big park upgrade moving from Queens to Sacramento.
