  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Four hits in twin bill

Gonzales went 4-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Tigers.

The Pirates were blanked in the opener and managed only three hits in total off Tarik Skubal and the Detroit bullpen, but Gonzales had one of them. The 25-year-old second baseman really came to life in the second contest, as he launched a solo shot off Keider Montero in the fourth inning and was a key part of a 10-2 rout by Pittsburgh. Gonzales has hit safely in 13 of the last 15 games as he solidifies his spot in the Bucs' lineup, batting .328 (19-for-58) over that stretch with three homers, a steal, nine runs and 14 RBI.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Taking seat against lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

The Dodgers are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (David Peterson) for the second consecutive game, so the lefty-hitting Lux will once again be on the bench after he sat out the second leg of Tuesday's doubleheader. Miguel Rojas will step in at shortstop, with Mookie Betts playing second base for Lux, who went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in the Dodgers' 5-2 extra-inning win in the opening game of the twin bill Tuesday.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Moving into reserve role

Triolo is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.

Triolo had served as the Pirates' primary second baseman for most of the season before seeing most of his action at third base over the past three weeks while Ke'Bryan Hayes was on the injured list. Nick Gonzales took over at second base while Hayes was out, and after handily outperforming Triolo at the plate during that stretch, Gonzales appears to have taken over Triolo's everyday role after Hayes was reinstated from the IL on Tuesday. Even though he had started in all but five of the Pirates' first 54 games of the season, Triolo hadn't delivered much fantasy value with a .203 average, three home runs, four stolen bases, 18 RBI and 12 runs. Now that he's likely moving into a part-time role, Triolo may struggle to offer much utility even in NL-only leagues.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Blasts homer Tuesday

Gorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

Gorman has four homers, two steals, eight RBI and eight runs scored over his last nine games, batting .321 (9-for-28) in that span. It's a good run of consistency at the plate for the infielder, who has struggled to put it all together at times this season. He's at a .214/.306/.428 slash line with nine long balls, 23 RBI, 21 runs scored and two steals through 47 contests overall while holding down a starting role at second base.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sitting against lefty

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

After a 1-for-5 performance during the Dodgers' Game 1 win, Lux will take a seat during the nightcap versus left-handed starter Jose Quintana. Miguel Rojas will start at the keystone instead while batting eighth.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Sitting against lefty

Garcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against Atlanta.

With southpaw Max Fried on the hill for Atlanta, the left-handed hitting Garcia will yield to switch-hitter Ildemaro Vargas at second base. Garcia has made just three starts against lefties this season.

  • Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Heating up for Syracuse

Acuna is slashing .303/.344/.371 over his last 20 games for Triple-A Syracuse with eight steals in 10 attempts and a 13.5 percent strikeout rate.

The 22-year-old had a rough start to his season and headed into May with a .224/.276/.367 line and a 21.0 percent K rate, but Acuna has found a groove over the last few weeks. Per Will Sammon of The Athletic, he's worked on shortening his swing and reducing his leg kick, and the tweaks seem to be paying dividends. Should the 22-30 Mets become sellers this summer and ship out veterans like Starling Marte and Jeff McNeil, it could open up a spot in the majors for Acuna.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Activated and optioned

The Marlins activated Edwards (foot) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Edwards is over the bacterial infection in his left foot which had plagued him since mid-March, but he'll remain in Jacksonville for now where he had been on a rehab assignment. The speedster has gone 8-for-26 at the plate in seven games with Jacksonville.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting against left-hander

Stott is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Francisco.

The Giants are starting reigning National League Cy Young winner and southpaw Blake Snell on Monday, so the left-handed hitting Stott will receive a day off. Whit Merrifield will handle second base for the Phillies.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Braves' Joey Wendle: Designated for assignment

Wendle was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Wendle inked a major-league contract with Atlanta last Friday after being released by the Mets, but he didn't see any action during his brief time with his new club. He should clear waivers and figures to become a free agent again.
