  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Smacks three-run homer

McLain went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-3 win over the Orioles.

McLain belted a three-run homer off Cade Povich in the fourth inning, and the former came across home plate for an additional run in the sixth inning on an infield single by Austin Hays. It was McLain's fourth home run of the season and first since March 31 against the Rangers. He's slashing .205/.340/.538 with seven walks, two stolen bases, 11 runs scored and nine RBI across 47 plate appearances this season.

  • Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Out of lineup again

Acuna is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Cardinals on Friday.

Acuna will be out of the Mets' lineup for a second straight game while Brett Baty starts at the keystone and bats ninth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Acuna is slashing .263/.349/.342 with five walks, five stolen bases, eight runs scored and one RBI in 43 plate appearances this season.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | BOS

Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Officially called up

The Brewers recalled Durbin from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Durbin entered spring training as the favorite to be Milwaukee's primary third baseman after being acquired from the Yankees this offseason in the Devin Williams trade, but he ended up beginning the campaign in the minors. The 25-year-old hit well to start the season at Nashville with two homers, three steals and a .278/.316/.481 slash line in 13 games, and he's now primed to make his MLB debut for the Brewers. Following the demotion of Oliver Dunn on Thursday, Durbin is poised to receive regular playing time at the hot corner.

  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Cracks second homer of 2025

Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

Fitzgerald struck out in his first three at-bats but launched a 381-foot homer to left field in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old infielder logged at least one hit in all four games of the Giants' series against the Phillies, going 8-for-17 at the plate during that span. Fitzgerald dealt with a lower-back injury during spring training and struggled at the start of the 2025 campaign. When asked about his slow start to the season Wednesday, Fitzgerald said, "I just felt like I had some really bad habits from when I hurt my back in spring training," according to Maria Guardado of MLB.com. However, he has been stellar of late and is now slashing .309/.345/.527 with 10 runs scored, seven extra-base hits, six RBI and a 3:15 BB:K across 60 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Exits starting nine

Acuna is not in the lineup for Thursday's tilt versus the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Acuna had started each of the previous four contests at second base, but he'll begin Thursday's series opener on the bench. Brett Baty is handling second base and batting eighth for the Mets.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | BOS

Brewers' Caleb Durbin: En route to Milwaukee

The Brewers will recall Durbin from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers were left with a hole at third base after optioning Oliver Dunn to Nashville on Thursday, and it now appears that Durbin will take over as Milwaukee's primary starter at the hot corner once he officially joins the big-league club. The 25-year-old speedster has slashed .278/.316/.481 with two home runs, three RBI, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases through 58 minor-league plate appearances, and he's recorded a base hit in 11 of his 13 contests. His first game in Milwaukee will mark his MLB debut.

  • Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Swipes fifth bag of year

Acuna went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Twins.

Making his fourth straight start at second base, Acuna extended his hitting streak to six games while swiping his fifth bag in five attempts. The 23-year-old is batting .381 (8-for-21) during his heater with two doubles, six runs and a 3:4 BB:K, and the Mets may be exploring ways to keep Acuna in the lineup -- Jeff McNeil (oblique) is seeing time in center field during his rehab assignment.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Exits starting nine

McLain is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

McLain started the first two games upon his return from the 10-day injured list, but he'll get a breather for Thursday's series finale. Gavin Lux is at second base and batting fifth for the Reds on Thursday.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Knocks in two

Farmer went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Farmer has gained most of his playing time at second base in the absence of Thairo Estrada (wrist), but he's recently seen work at first base and shortstop while also serving as the designated hitter. He's quietly been one of the few bright spots for the Colorado offense to begin the season, tallying multiple base hits in six of his last 11 starts. Farmer has nine doubles with four RBI and two runs scored in that span.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Still in boot

Gonzales (ankle) is still wearing a boot but is partially weight bearing, MLB.com reports.

Gonzales fractured his left ankle on Opening Day while rounding the bases after hitting a home run. He can play catch from a seated position and has been cleared to run on an anti-gravity treadmill, but his return to game action remains at least a few weeks away.
