Brandon Drury 2B | KC
Angels' Brandon Drury: Activated, batting fifth Friday
Drury (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Angels manager Phil Nevin had indicated that Drury would remain on his minor-league rehab assignment through the weekend, but that was before the 30-year-old infielder connected for a long two-run homer at Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday night. He is playing second base and batting fifth Friday against the Mariners following a month-long absence due to left shoulder inflammation.

Davis Schneider 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Batting seventh in MLB debut
Schneider is starting at second base and batting seventh in his major-league debut Friday against the Red Sox.
Whit Merrifield is in left field against southpaw James Paxton, bumping Daulton Varsho to center while Kevin Kiermaier joins Santiago Espinal and Cavan Biggio on the bench. Schneider might have to get off to a hot start in order to carve out even a platoon role with the Blue Jays, but he does at least seem capable of doing that. The 24-year-old had posted a .969 OPS with 21 home runs and 64 RBI through 87 games this season for Triple-A Buffalo.

Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Designated for assignment
Arroyo was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Luis Urias, acquired from the Brewers at Tuesday's trade deadline, is headed up to Boston in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old Arroyo had slashed just .241/.268/.369 with three home runs and 24 RBI through 66 games (206 plate appearances) this season for the Red Sox.

Luis Urias 2B | ATH
Red Sox's Luis Urias: Called up by Boston
Boston recalled Urias from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Urias was acquired from the Brewers at Tuesday's trade deadline and will look to start fresh with the Red Sox in what has been an injury-stunted 2023 campaign. When healthy this season, the 26-year-old former top prospect has slashed just .145/.299/.236 with one home run in 20 major-league games. Christian Arroyo was designated for assignment Friday in a corresponding move.

Davis Schneider 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Officially promoted to bigs
Toronto selected Schneider's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.
Schneider doesn't have a clear path toward regular playing time with the Blue Jays, but the 28th-round pick from the 2017 MLB Draft has forced his way to the bigs after registering a .969 OPS with 21 home runs and 21 doubles across 87 games this summer at Triple-A. He'll likely operate as a super-utility option at a variety of positions while offering some pop off the bench.

Davis Schneider 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Getting call-up to Jays
Schneider will be called up to the Blue Jays on Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Schneider was a 28th-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, but he has steadily risen through the Jays' minor-league system and had exploded for a .969 OPS with 21 home runs and nine stolen bases through 87 games this season at Triple-A Buffalo. It's not exactly clear how he might fit into Toronto's lineup, but the 24-year-old has played pretty much every position on the diamond since beginning his professional career. Most of his starts with Buffalo have come at either second base or left field.
