  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Three hits against ChiSox

Torres went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the White Sox. The second baseman did his job setting the table, but the heart of Detroit's order couldn't take advantage. Torres has three multi-hit efforts in his last four games, and through 13 contests in August he's batting .288 (15-for-52) with three homers, 10 RBI and 11 runs.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers in loss Wednesday

Torres went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Guardians. Torres was the only Detroit player with multiple hits and he also delivered his eighth home run of the season in the third inning, which gave the Tigers a short-lived 3-2 lead. The veteran infielder batted leadoff for the first time since Aug. 2, with Kevin McGonigle sliding down from first to third in the lineup against lefty Foster Griffin. Whether he's batting leadoff or not, Torres should regularly occupy a spot near the top of Detroit's order most days, and he should remain a steady if not spectacular fantasy performer.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Launches homer in win

Torres went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners. Torres has been good to start August, going 4-for-12 with two homers, six RBI and four walks over his last three games. The second baseman has hit .224 (11-for-49) over 13 games since he returned from a month-long absence due to an oblique strain. For the year, Torres is batting .267 with a .794 OPS, seven homers, 29 RBI, 36 runs scored, eight doubles and no stolen bases over 56 contests.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Active in easy win Sunday

Torres went 1-for-2 with four walks, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 11-0 win over the Athletics. Torres was on base regularly Sunday as he set a new season high in walks. The veteran second baseman put together the strong performance on the heels of hitting his sixth home run of the season Saturday. Torres is a steady offensive contributor with a good eye at the plate, and his current .389 on-base percentage would represent a new career best. His ability to get on base at a good clip should allow him to score plenty of runs moving forward and elevate his overall fantasy value.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers in Saturday's win

Torres went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 8-6 win over the Athletics. Torres has two homers and seven RBI over his last four games. The second baseman put the Tigers up 4-2 when he went deep in the fifth inning Saturday. He's now batting .266 with a .775 OPS, six homers, 25 RBI, 31 runs scored, eight doubles and no stolen bases over 54 contests this season.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Goes deep, drives in five in rout

Torres went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and five total RBI in Tuesday's 14-0 win over the Orioles. Torres easily set a new season high in RBI as he helped pace a Detroit offensive explosion. The veteran infielder's previous season best in RBI was two, and his home run was his first since June 11. Torres did miss about a month of action due to an oblique strain, and Tuesday's effort was his best since returning from the injured list last week.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Left out of starting nine Monday

Torres is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles. The Tigers have been careful not to overexert Torres since he rejoined the big club last Monday following a month-long stint on the injured list due to an oblique strain. He'll sit for the second time since being activated, and the Tigers have also deployed him at designated hitter in two of his first six starts following his return. Detroit will go with Riley Greene in the DH spot Monday, while Hao-Yu Lee steps in at second base.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Taking seat Wednesday

Torres isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. After going 2-for-7 with two walks through the first two games of the series, Torres will move to the bench Wednesday as the Tigers look to ease him back to action following a month-long stay on the IL. Hao-Yu Lee will pick up a start at second base as a result and bat eighth.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Reinstated from IL

The Tigers reinstated Torres (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday. Torres needed a month-long stint on the IL due to a left oblique strain. He was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment during the All-Star break, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to return to the majors, meaning both Zach McKinstry and Hao-Yu Lee will see less time at the keystone. Catcher Eduardo Valencia was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Kicks off rehab assignment

Torres (oblique) played five innings at second base and went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first rehab appearance Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Torres was given the green light to begin a rehab assignment after he completed a running, hitting and defensive progression during the final week before the All-Star break. The 30-year-old is on the mend from a left oblique strain, which sent him back to the shelf June 17 after he had previously missed just over a month with the same injury earlier in the season. He played in just two rehab games before returning from the injury the first time, but the Tigers may take a more conservative approach with Torres' ramp-up program this time around. While a return during the Tigers' first series following the All-Star break could be ambitious, Torres would still appear likely to make it back from the injured list at some point during the final week and a half of July.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Still not hitting

The Tigers announced Tuesday that Torres (oblique) is in the midst of a running progression, but the veteran second baseman hasn't yet resumed hitting since landing on the injured list June 17, MLB.com reports. Though Torres has been able to take part in some baseball activities since receiving a cortisone injection last month for his left oblique strain, his inability to start up a hitting progression over two weeks later suggests that the Tigers will likely hold him out through the All-Star break. Torres missed a month of action earlier in the season with the same injury, and it wouldn't be surprising if he faces a longer recovery timeline this time around.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Receives cortisone injection

Torres (oblique) received a cortisone injection Friday and is expected to start up his rehab program in the next day or two, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. The veteran second baseman was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to an oblique strain, and he won't waste much time before getting treatment. Torres was sidelined more than a month with the same injury earlier this season, though it's unclear how long he's expected to be out this time around.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Lands on IL with oblique strain

The Tigers placed Torres on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain. Torres sustained the injury during Monday's game in Houston. He missed more than a month of action earlier this season with the same injury before returning in early June. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined this time around, but it will likely be longer than a minimum absence. Hao-Yu Lee has drawn two straight starts at second base for the Tigers and could share the position with Zach McKinstry while Torres is shelved.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Remains out of lineup

Torres (side) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Houston. Torres had to exit Monday's game after tweaking his left side, and he will now miss a second straight start. The Tigers have not ruled out a potential stint on the injured list for Torres, but they will wait at least until Friday following Thursday's team off day before making an IL decision. Hao-Yu Lee will grab another start at second base in Torres' stead.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Sits out Tuesday

Torres (side) didn't play in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Astros. The veteran second baseman sustained an apparent left side injury during Monday's contest, and it's already cost him one game. During an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Tuesday, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said, "I'm bracing for this being an issue, but I don't know. Hopefully it's just a little cramp or something that caused an issue but that's a total guess," per Jeremy Otto of 97.1 The Ticket. Given the lack of clarity regarding the injury, Torres should be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's series finale in Houston, though it wouldn't be surprising if he sits for a second straight game, and perhaps more beyond that.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Reaches three times in loss

Torres went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Guardians. Torres led off the game with his sixth double of the season, then came around to score on a Dillon Dingler single. Torres has four multi-hit performances across his last 10 contests, and he's slashing .350/.422/.600 during that span with two home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored. Torres looks to be kicking things into gear and should remain a strong fantasy asset, especially in OBP formats.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Lifts off in win Thursday

Torres went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 11-0 win over the Twins. Torres was one of six Detroit players to go deep in the easy win. The infielder has only four home runs so far this season, though he did miss about a month of action due to an oblique strain. Torres has been a steady performer when healthy with a .282 batting average and .790 OPS, and he's been even better lately with a .357 batting average over his last 15 games.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Tallies three hits in loss

Torres went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Twins. Torres has been heating up lately with three three-hit performances across his last six games, and he's batting a robust .417 during the stretch. Overall, the veteran infielder now has a .283/.398/.379 slash line in 39 contests, and after missing about a month due to an oblique strain, he once again looks like a reliable fantasy contributor near the top of Detroit's lineup.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Crosses plate three times Wednesday

Torres went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Rays. The second baseman has hit the ground running this week since returning from an oblique strain. In two games since coming off the IL, Torres has gone 4-for-9 with a double, a solo homer and four runs while hitting leadoff in both contests. He boasts a .764 OPS through 34 games this season, including what would be a career-high .396 OBP.

  • Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers early in return

Torres went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Rays. Playing in his first game in a month, Torres wasted little time getting back into the swing of things as he hit his third home run of the season to lead off the game for the Tigers. The veteran second baseman was on the shelf due to an oblique strain, and Detroit may ease him back into action somewhat, but Torres should once again occupy a spot near the top of the lineup most days. His return should give the entire offense a boost due to his ability to consistently get on base.
