  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Moving to bench versus lefty

Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

With southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the bump for Philadelphia, the Rockies will stock up on some extra right-handed bats while Julien joins fellow left-handed hitters TJ Rumfield, Troy Johnston and Brett Sullivan on the bench. Tyler Freeman will receive the nod at second base in place of Julien.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Taking seat Monday

Julien is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Right-hander Huascar Brazoban is opening the game for the Mets, but the left-handed-hitting Julien will hit the bench to begin Monday's contest since New York will be using a lefty (David Peterson) in bulk relief. With Julien taking a seat, Tyler Freeman will occupy the designated-hitter spot and Willi Castro will start at second bas.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Swats second homer

Julien went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Reds.

The former Twin accounted for all of the Rockies' offense in the loss, launching a solo shot in the second inning off Chase Burns before an RBI single in the fifth. Julien has hit safely in seven straight games while being used in a strict strong-side platoon role, batting a blistering .448 (13-for-29) over that stretch to boost his slash line on the season to .308/.393/.449 through 89 plate appearances with two homers, two steals, 12 RBI and 13 runs.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Idle against southpaw

Julien is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

After starting each of the past three games, the left-handed-hitting Julien will hit the bench while the Reds send a southpaw (Brandon Williamson) to the bump. With Julien taking a seat, Willi Castro (knee) will cover second base in his return to the lineup, and Hunter Goodman will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter while Brett Sullivan draws a start behind the dish.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Strong showing across doubleheader

Julien went 3-for-8 with three runs scored and a walk across both games of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Julien served as the leadoff hitter in both contests and continued his recent success of getting on base and scoring runs. He extended his hitting streak to six games, and he also has seven runs scored and five RBI in that span. Julien has started 18 of the Rockies' last 19 contests against right-handed pitching, and his strong start to the season should keep his role secure for the foreseeable future.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Extends modest hit streak

Julien went 2-for-5 with a triple, one RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Padres.

Julien took advantage of Colorado's recent homestand, going 7-for-23 with five RBI and four runs scored across six games. On Thursday, he chipped in an RBI single in the second inning and then led off the fourth frame with a triple before coming around to score. While nearly all of Julien's production has come at home, he's hitting .273 with nine runs scored, 10 RBI and one home run across 75 plate appearances to begin the season.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Grabbing seat Friday

Julien is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Mets.

Julien went 7-for-23 with five RBI and four runs scored during the Rockies' recent six-game homestand, but he will get a breather Friday as the team begins a road trip. Tyler Freeman is handling second base and batting cleanup.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Idle against southpaw

Julien is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

While Julien has taken hold of the leadoff spot against right-handed pitching, the Rockies will continue to shield the left-handed batter from southpaws. Jordan Beck will replace Julien as the team's table setter Monday while lefty Justin Wrobleski toes the rubber for the Dodgers.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Drives in three runs

Julien went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.

Julien had a standout day at the plate, recording his first three-hit, three-RBI effort of the campaign. Sunday snapped a cold spell, as the 26-year-old had been hitless over his previous six appearances. Julien has regularly operated as the Rockies' leadoff man against right-handed pitching in 2026, slashing .259/.355/.352 with one homer, two doubles, eight RBI, six runs and two stolen bases across 20 contests.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: First homer of 2026

Julien went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a stolen base, two walks and two runs scored Saturday against the Padres.

Julien led off for the sixth consecutive game, and he continues to excel in the role. He has 10 hits across 21 at-bats in that span, driving in five with five runs scored and two stolen bases. While Julien began the season as a bench bat, he should continue to get regular run at second base and designated hitter so long as he remains productive.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Taking advantage of playng time

Julien went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a walk Wednesday against the Astros.

Julien served as Colorado's leadoff hitter for the third consecutive game. He's performed well in that span, going 5-for-12 with four RBI and three runs scored. Julien began the season as a part-time player, though his strong performance could earn him additional playing time, at least the short term.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Gaining traction atop lineup

Julien will start at second base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Julien will handle leadoff duties for a third straight contest and appears to have at least temporarily claimed a spot in the Rockies' starting nine against right-handed pitching while Jake McCarthy (.385 OPS) and Jordan Beck (.268 OPS) are struggling. With a .513 OPS in 20 plate appearances, Julien has been only marginally better, and he'll likely need to raise his production to ensure he sticks in the lineup on a long-term basis.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Sits for third time in four games

Julien is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Julien started at designated hitter in the Rockies' first two games of the season, but he's now been left out of the lineup three times in the last four contests, with each of those absences coming against right-handed pitchers. Rather than leaning on Julien as the regular DH, Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer seems content to rotate a number of players at that spot.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Julien is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Julien has gone 1-for-7 with a double and four strikeouts while starting three of Colorado's first four games of the season, and he'll hit the bench for Tuesday's contest. T.J. Rumfield will shift to designated hitter and Willi Castro to first base, opening up the keystone for Ryan Ritter.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Exiting lineup Sunday

Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Julien served as the Rockies' designated hitter in the first two games of the season, going 1-for-5 with a double. Though he should have a fairly clear path to at-bats while Mickey Moniak (finger) is on the shelf, Julien will be the odd man out of the lineup Sunday. Hunter Goodman will get a day off from catching but stick in the starting nine at DH.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Starting at DH in opener

Julien will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Friday's opener in Miami.

The placement of Mickey Moniak (finger) on the 10-day injured list will free up some at-bats at DH and in the outfield for the Rockies. Julien will get the first crack at DH, though the spot is likely to be a revolving door. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Twins over the offseason.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Secures Opening Day roster spot

Manager Warren Schaeffer said Sunday that Julien will be included on the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Julien has no minor-league options remaining, so he always seemed to be in good position to make the Opening Day roster even after producing a middling .693 OPS during Cactus League play. The 26-year-old's role remains unclear, however, and he could find playing time tough to come by if he's unable to secure a strong-side platoon job at first base, second base or designated hitter. Julien offers limited defensive utility and owns a lowly .209/.278/.313 slash line (66 wRC+) over 126 career plate appearances versus left-handed pitchers.

  • Rockies' Edouard Julien: Back in action Sunday

Julien (back) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Guardians.

Julien hadn't played since Tuesday due to back tightness, but a few days off was apparently all he needed. The 26-year-old is competing for a strong-side platoon role at either first base or DH this spring.
