  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Barger (ankle) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Barger will sit Tuesday for a second straight game after exiting Sunday's matchup with the White Sox due to bilateral ankle discomfort. Manager John Schneider said Monday that the 26-year-old was "trending in the right direction" but couldn't rule out the possibility of a stint on the injured list. Nathan Lukes is starting in right field Tuesday for Toronto.

  • Guardians' Welbyn Francisca: Missing in action

Francisca is dealing with a shoulder injury and should join High-A Lake County by late April, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

The 19-year-old switch hitter took a step back in 2025 with an 88 wRC+ in 98 games at Single-A after logging a 143 wRC+ in 74 games across rookie ball and Single-A in 2024. He's still young and has above-average speed on the bases, so Francisca could bounce back once he's healthy for the Captains.

  • Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Scratched from Tuesday's start

Rasmussen was scratched from his scheduled start against the Cubs on Tuesday due to the imminent birth of his child, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The right-hander will presumably be placed on the paternity list soon, which will allow him to be away from the team for up to three days. It's unclear when exactly the Rays plan to re-insert Rasmussen into the starting rotation, but his next outing seems likely to come this weekend versus the Yankees. Mason Englert is starting in his place Tuesday as Tampa Bay is opting for a bullpen game.

  • Jake McCarthy LF | COL

Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Sitting versus righty

McCarthy is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Astros.

McCarthy batted leadoff in each of the Rockies' first five games this season, but he's seen his role reduced since then. The outfielder has started only three of the past six tilts and has been down in the No. 8 spot in the batting order for all of those starts. Jordan Beck will cover left field for the Rockies on Tuesday.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exiting starting nine

Doyle is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Astros.

It's already the third day off this season for Doyle, who is 4-for-31 with a 35.3 percent strikeout rate in his first 34 plate appearances this season. Mickey Moniak will patrol center field and bat second for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: First day off Tuesday

Goodman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

It's the first day off this season for Goodman, who has scuffled in the early going with a .621 OPS and 39.5 percent strikeout rate. Brett Sullivan will start at catcher and bat eighth for the Rockies while Goodman rests.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Taking seat Tuesday

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Narvaez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's series opener but is batting .273 through 24 plate appearances this year, though he's still in search of his first extra-base hit. Connor Wong is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Tuesday.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | BOS

Red Sox's Caleb Durbin: Getting breather Tuesday

Durbin is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Brewers.

Durbin logged his first career two-hit game as a member of the Red Sox in Monday's loss to Milwaukee, but he'll get a breather a day later. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will cover third base and bat ninth for Boston.

  • Joel Kuhnel RP | ATH

Athletics' Joel Kuhnel: Officially called up

The Athletics selected Kuhnel's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

The right-hander delivered two scoreless outings for Las Vegas and will replace Luis Morales on the Athletics' active roster. Kuhnel last pitched in the majors in 2024, when he made 10 regular-season appearances between the Rays and Astros and gave up five earned runs with a 5:0 K:BB over 10 innings.

  • Athletics' Gunnar Hoglund: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Athletics transferred Hoglund (back) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Joel Kuhnel. Hoglund is recovering from a lumbar spine strain and it's unclear how far along he is in his rehab. He is now ineligible to return before late May.
