Major League Baseball suspended Speier for three games Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Speier was ejected from Wednesday's game after intentionally hitting Gleyber Torres with a pitch and will now also receive a three-game ban for his actions. Speier will appeal the suspension, per McCosky, and he'll remain eligible to pitch until a final verdict is reached.
The Mariners activated Speier (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Speier has been out for all of May with left shoulder inflammation, but he's been cleared to rejoin the Mariners' bullpen after making a couple rehab appearances. Nick Davila has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to free a spot on the active roster for Speier's return.

Speier has appeared in two minor-league games on the way back from left shoulder inflammation, most recently firing a scoreless frame while striking out two Saturday against Triple-A Salt Lake. Manager Dan Wilson hasn't revealed whether Speier will be activated in time for Monday's series opener, though he noted the southpaw could return shortly, per Kramer.

It's unclear how long Speier has been bothered by the shoulder issue, but he hasn't pitched since last Wednesday and was not sharp in that outing, retiring just two of six batters. Speier came on to pitch the 10th inning after Andres Munoz pitched a scoreless ninth inning in a tie game. Speier allowed the designated runner, Oswald Peraza, to score following a groundout and sacrifice fly but closed the door by striking out Yoan Moncada.
