Stewart is not in Saturday's lineup against the Cubs.

Stewart will head to the bench for a second game in a row, Friday against a lefty and Saturday against righty Javier Assad. The righty-hitting rookie has been swinging a hot bat (.972 OPS over his last 11 games), but Spencer Steer has been even more productive of late (three homers, eight RBI over last three games), and Steer is starting at first base and batting second Saturday.

Marte is not in Saturday's lineup against the Cubs.

Marte started five games in a row prior to sitting Thursday against a righty, starting Friday against a lefty and now sitting again against righty Javier Assad. In both cases, Will Benson has started in right field with Austin Hays in left. Marte is hitting .149 with 18 strikeouts and three walks over his last 12 games, so he may continue to lose playing time against righties. The Reds are tentatively scheduled to face only right-handed starters in their final eight games of the regular season.

Vientos is not in Saturday's lineup against the Nationals.

The 25-year-old third baseman had started 12 of the last 14 games, with his two off days coming against righties. Vientos is hitting .179 with two home runs and 19 strikeouts in 17 games this month. Brett Baty will man the hot corner while Starling Marte gets the start at designated hitter against righty Cade Cavalli.

Garcia isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

After going 0-for-4 in Friday's series opener, Garcia will step out of the starting nine Saturday while Nasim Nunez starts at second base and bats ninth.

Patrick is slated to start Saturday's game in St. Louis, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

Since making a 4.1-inning spot start versus the Rangers back on Sept. 10, Patrick has shifted back to the bullpen. After striking out four batters across a pair of scoreless innings Sunday versus the Cardinals and Tuesday versus the Angels, Patrick will step back into the rotation this weekend as a replacement to Jose Quintana (calf), who was placed on the injured list. Though Patrick has mostly been outside of the big-league rotation since the All-Star break, he's been effective over his 24 outings (21 starts) for Milwaukee in 2025, logging a 3.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 116:37 K:BB across 111.1 innings.

Assad is slated to start Saturday's game in Cincinnati, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The Cubs have already clinched a playoff berth but are six games behind the Brewers in the NL Central standings heading into play Saturday, so the team is essentially locked into a best-of-three wild-card series in the postseason. As a result, the Cubs appear content to build in an extra day of rest for their rotation members heading into the playoffs and will do so by having Assad make a spot start Saturday. Since moving to the bullpen earlier this month, Assad's lone relief appearance was a 2.1-inning outing back on Sept. 14, so he should be well rested and capable of providing plenty of length Saturday. Over six appearances (five starts) for the big club this season, Assad has gone 3-1 with a 4.23 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB across 27.2 innings.

The Mets designated Suero for assignment Saturday.

Suero joined the active roster Thursday, but he'll now be pushed off the 40-man without making an appearance for the Mets. Richard Lovelady was promoted from Syracuse to fill the open spot in New York's bullpen.

Adames went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

After going 0-for-13 across 17 plate appearances in his previous four games, Adames lined a double to right field in the seventh inning before coming around to score the Giants' final run. The shortstop is batting .211 with 10 RBI, five runs scored, three homers, three stolen bases and a 28.6 percent strikeout rate across 70 plate appearances in September. Overall, he's slashing .226/.318/.421 with 89 runs scored, 82 RBI, 28 long balls and 11 stolen bases in 650 plate appearances over 152 games.

Chapman went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Following a five-game stretch in which he went 0-for-15 across 20 plate appearances, Chapman lined a double to center field in the second inning before coming around to score. He also added an RBI single in the seventh. The third baseman owns a .236/.347/.442 slash line with 72 runs scored, 59 RBI, 21 long balls and nine stolen bases across 505 plate appearances in 121 games this season.

Garrett has been recommended for Tommy John surgery, but he may delay a decision on that procedure until he recovers from another surgery on his arm, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The 32-year-old reliever landed on the IL on Thursday, and he appears headed for a lengthy absence. Garrett is already set for surgery to shift a nerve in his pitching arm that's been causing him issues, and he may elect to undergo PRP injections this winter after recovering to see if his elbow can recover without full Tommy John surgery. If he takes that route and still needs to go under the knife, however, Garrett might not be ready to pitch again until the 2027 season.
