  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Back from paternity leave

The Rockies reinstated Freeman from the paternity list Tuesday.

After spending some time away from the team to welcome a new addition to his family, Freeman will rejoin the active roster and reclaim his role as a utility depth piece. Sterlin Thompson was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

  • Quinn Priester SP | MIL

Brewers' Quinn Priester: Moving rehab to Triple-A Nashville

Priester (shoulder) departed High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday to join Triple-A Nashville for his next rehab start Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Priester's last rehab start was May 16 when he allowed seven earned runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings. The right-hander has struggled through his four total rehab outings between Wisconsin and Nashville with a 22.74 ERA and 3.63 WHIP across 6.1 innings. The first three appearances came with Nashville as he nursed a nerve issue in his right wrist, but then he started to deal with shoulder soreness.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Giants' Willy Adames: Back in starting nine

Adames (thumb) will start at shortstop and bat fifth Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Adames suffered a bruised right thumb after misplaying a groundball in Monday's game, but it won't be enough to keep him from starting Tuesday's contest. The 30-year-old slugger has been starting to turn things around at the plate after a slow start to the season, slashing .405/.436/.568 with eight RBI and four runs scored across his last nine games.

  • Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Back with Arizona

The Diamondbacks selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Garcia will recapture a spot on the 26-man active roster following James McCann's (quadriceps) move to the injured list Tuesday. The 33-year-old Garcia has hit well in the minors this season, slashing .244/.404/.533 across 57 plate appearances, but he isn't likely to receive consistent playing time in the big leagues while acting as the backup catcher behind Gabriel Moreno.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Diamondbacks' James McCann: Officially placed on IL

The Diamondbacks placed McCann (quad) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

McCann suffered a quad strain while legging out a single in Monday's contest, and his injury will sideline him for at least another 10 days. Aramis Garcia was selected from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move to provide depth behind the plate, though Gabriel Moreno should continue to receive the majority of the starts at catcher.

  • Ty Blach RP | CHC

Cubs' Ty Blach: DFA'd by Cubs

The Cubs designated Blach for assignment Tuesday.

Blach spun three scoreless innings out of the Cubs' bullpen Monday against the Brewers in his lone appearance for the club, and his reward is being jettisoned from the 26-man and 40-man rosters. The lefty will likely clear waivers, and if that happens, he would have the ability to decline an outright assignment and become a free agent.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Cubs' Caleb Thielbar: Reinstated from injured list

The Cubs activated Thielbar (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Thielbar wound up being sidelined for nearly a month with a left hamstring strain, but he's been cleared to return after making one scoreless rehab appearance. The left-hander had been serving as the Cubs' closer before he got hurt, but with Daniel Palencia now healthy, Thielbar will slide into a setup role.

  • Pirates' Jhostynxon Garcia: Recalled, batting sixth Tuesday

The Pirates recalled Garcia from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

The move was reported Monday and has now been made official. Garcia is starting in right field and batting sixth Tuesday in St. Louis in what will be his team debut. He was acquired from the Red Sox over the offseason in the Johan Oviedo trade and has slashed .205/.256/.356 with three home runs in 19 games this season with Indianapolis.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Out of lineup Tuesday

Winn (knee) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Winn had to depart Sunday's game versus the Royals because of left knee discomfort, and he's not feeling well enough to start Tuesday even after Monday's team off day. He had surgery last September to repair the meniscus in his right knee. Cesar Prieto will cover shortstop and bat seventh in the series opener.

  • Nick Morabito LF | NYM

Mets' Nick Morabito: Batting seventh in MLB debut

Morabito will start in left field and bat seventh Tuesday versus the Nationals in his major-league debut.

Most of the right-handed-hitting Morabito's playing time -- at least initially -- is expected to come against lefties, and he's in there Tuesday versus southpaw Foster Griffin. The rookie was promoted earlier in the day after slashing .253/.364/.390 with four home runs and 14 stolen bases across 41 contests with Triple-A Syracuse.
