Brewers' Colin Rea: Following opener
Rea will follow opener Jared Koenig out of the bullpen Saturday versus Boston, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Rea was originally slated to start Saturday's contest, but the Brewers will instead opt to use Koenig as an opener for the second game in a row. The 33-year-old Rea got off to a hot start in 2024, but he has given up 12 earned runs in 15 innings across his last three starts.

Jared Koenig RP | MIL
Brewers' Jared Koenig: Opening again Saturday
Koenig will serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Red Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Koenig gave up a hit and a walk and struck out a batter in two-thirds of an inning while serving as an opener during Friday's win and will get a second straight opportunity to open a game. He will presumably remain in the game for just an inning or two before giving way to Colin Rea, who was originally scheduled to start Saturday.

Eddie Rosario RF | MIL
Nationals' Eddie Rosario: Mashes seventh homer
Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Mariners.
The veteran outfielder took former Nats pitcher Austin Voth deep in the eighth inning to cap the scoring in a 6-1 victory, Six of Rosario's seven homers on the season have come in his last 16 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .302/.362/.698 with four steals, 13 runs and 15 RBI.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Pops third homer
Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the Mariners.
The 25-year-old catcher has had a rough season so far, and Friday's long ball off George Kirby snapped a 19-game homer drought for Ruiz. Through 31 contests, he's slashing a feeble .171/.207/.270 with three home runs and 10 RBI, but his bat could be waking up -- over his last six starts, he's batting .316 (6-for-19) with two doubles in addition to Friday's blast.

Luis Garcia 1B | NYY
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Swats fifth homer
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Mariners.
With the Nationals trailing 1-0, Garcia gave MacKenzie Gore all the support he would need by driving a George Kirby slider over the fence in left-center field. It was the second baseman's second long ball in the last four games and his fifth of the season. After a 3-for-33 swoon in the middle of May, Garcia could be heating up again, as he's gone 5-for-16 with six RBI in those last four contests.

Reed Garrett RP | NYM
Mets' Reed Garrett: Melts down against Giants
Garrett (5-2) took the loss Friday against the Giants, coughing up five runs on four hits and a walk in the eighth inning.
The big blow was a grand slam by Patrick Bailey as Garrett squandered a 6-2 lead. The 31-year-old right-hander has been tagged with the loss in each of his last two appearances, and he's given up seven of his eight earned runs on the season in his last six innings, a poor stretch that has come as he's moved into the late-inning mix due to Edwin Diaz's own poor form. Garrett's stumbles have added more than two points to his ERA, but he still sports a 2.67 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB through 27 frames.

Harrison Bader CF | SF
Mets' Harrison Bader: Hitting bench Saturday
Bader isn't in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Bader reached base twice and swiped a bag during a loss in Friday's series opener, and he will now step out of the starting lineup as DJ Stewart, Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte start across the outfield.

Harrison Bader CF | SF
Mets' Harrison Bader: Swipes eighth bag
Bader went 0-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base in Friday's loss to the Giants.
It's his second straight game with a steal, giving the 29-year-old eight stolen bases on the season, although he's also been caught four times. Bader swiped a career-high 20 bags in 2023, but he seems well on his way to surpassing that mark. He also carries a career-high .279 batting average, adding two homers, 13 RBI and 17 runs through 43 games while exclusively hitting in the bottom third of the order.
