Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Back in lineup for series finale
McCutchen (hamstring) will serve as the Pirates' designated hitter and leadoff batter in Sunday's game against the White Sox.
McCutchen will return to the lineup after he was removed in the ninth inning of Saturday's 6-2 win with what the Pirates labeled as left hamstring discomfort. Even though the Pirates could have kept McCutchen out of the lineup in their final game before the All-Star break to give the veteran some extended time to rest up, he'll be ready to go Sunday, which suggests his removal from Saturday's contest was precautionary.

Sam Hilliard LF | COL
Rockies' Sam Hilliard: Hitting bench against southpaw
Hilliard is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
The lefty-hitting Hilliard looks on track to serve as the Rockies' primary option in left field while Nolan Jones (back) is on the injured list, but Hilliard will likely hit the bench when the Rockies face southpaws. With lefty Jose Quintana taking the hill for the Mets on Sunday, Sean Bouchard will step in as the starter in left field in place of Hilliard, who had 5-for-13 with two home runs, one double, one stolen base, one walk, three RBI and three runs over the previous four contests.

Jake Cave LF | COL
Rockies' Jake Cave: Idle against lefty
Cave is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
With southpaw Jose Quintana on the hill for the Mets, the lefty-hitting Cave will retreat to the bench for the series finale. Hunter Goodman will step in for Cave in right field.

Elias Diaz C | TEX
Rockies' Elias Diaz: Resting Sunday
Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Diaz will get a breather in the Rockies' final game before the All-Star break, affording Jacob Stallings a turn behind the dish. Upon returning from the injured list June 30, Diaz had started in 12 of the Rockies' ensuing 14 games, going just 11-for-50 (.220 average) with two extra-base hits (both doubles), two RBI and one run over that stretch.

Josh Rogers RP | COL
Rockies' Josh Rogers: Activated and optioned
The Rockies reinstated Rogers (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Rogers had been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Albuquerque and will remain with the Rockies' top affiliate even though he's made a full recovery from the left rotator cuff strain that resulted in his placement on the IL on June 17. The southpaw had posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 9.1 innings over his five appearances out of the Colorado bullpen prior to landing on the IL.

Angel Chivilli RP | NYY
Rockies' Angel Chivilli: Sent to Double-A
The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Sunday.
Chivilli was moved off the 26-man active roster to clear a spot for right-hander German Marquez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Mets. After being called up from Double-A on Saturday, Chivilli went unused out of the bullpen in the Rockies' 7-3 loss in the second game of the series.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Activated for first 2024 start
The Rockies reinstated Marquez (elbow) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Mets.
He'll pick up his first start of the season and his first in the big leagues since April 26, 2023, now that he's completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Marquez wrapped up his seven-start minor-league rehab assignment on a high note Tuesday, when he struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits and no walks over five innings for Double-A Hartford. Marquez will likely be capped at around 75 to 90 pitches in his 2024 Rockies debut, but he shouldn't face any major workload restrictions in his subsequent outings. During his last full season in the big leagues in 2022, Marquez turned in a 4.95 ERA and 1.37 WHIP while striking out 150 batters in 181.2 innings, so fantasy managers outside of deep leagues are probably best off taking a wait-and-see approach with the right-hander rather than immediately scooping him up off the waiver wire.

JoJo Romero RP | MIL
Cardinals' JoJo Romero: Nabs win in nightcap
Romero (4-1) allowed a hit and a walk over two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run, earning the win in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
Romero was a little shaky but got the job done in the eighth inning. The Cardinals then took the lead with a two-run single by Nolan Arenado in their half of the frame to put Romero in line for the win. He hasn't been charged with a run over his last eight appearances, allowing seven hits and two walks over six innings in that span. For the season, the setup man has a 2.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 34:9 K:BB, 26 holds and four blown saves across 40.2 innings.

Dane Myers CF | CIN
Marlins' Dane Myers: Sitting against lefty Sunday
Myers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Myers looked to be moving into a full-time role last week, but he now finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in six contests. The right-handed-hitting Myers had previously occupied the short side of a platoon in right field with the lefty-hitting Jesus Sanchez, but the Marlins will keep Sanchez in the lineup over Myers while southpaw Nick Lodolo takes the hill for the Reds on Sunday.

Alec Burleson 1B | STL
Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Homers in Game 1 win Saturday
Burleson went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run scored in an 11-3 win over the Cubs in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.
Burleson also went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in the nightcap. He's driven in 10 runs over his last six games, and he's batting .327 (16-for-49) over 12 contests in July. The 25-year-old is up to a .285/.318/.481 slash line with 16 homers, 52 RBI, 40 runs scored, seven stolen bases and 13 doubles over 88 games in his breakout year.
