Roddery Munoz RP | HOU
Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Earns second win
Munoz (2-5) picked up the win Wednesday over Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.
Munoz allowed a run in both of the first two innings on a Christopher Morel homer and a Jonny DeLuca RBI triple. However, the 24-year-old right-hander would settle in and blank the Rays over his final three frames while recording seven strikeouts, matching a season high. Munoz now sports a 5.45 ERA at the big-league level this year with a 1.38 WHIP and 57:32 K:BB across 66 innings. He figures to remain in Miami's rotation after Trevor Rogers was traded to the Orioles, and with that, Munoz's next outing is currently lined up for early next week at home versus the Reds.

Lyon Richardson RP | MIL
Reds' Lyon Richardson: Heads back to minors
The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Richardson got some work out of the bullpen in Tuesday's win over the Cubs, allowing two runs while retiring two batters. The right-hander will rejoin the rotation at Louisville.

Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX
Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Exits after fouling ball off foot
Nimmo was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Twins following the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his left foot, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
Nimmo was in noticeable discomfort after fouling a ball off his foot in the bottom of the sixth inning. While he remained in the game to finish his plate appearance and ultimately struck out, he was then lifted in between frames. Nimmo is presumably headed for X-rays, with an update on his condition likely to be available later Wednesday. He was hitless in three at-bats before being pulled.

Christian Yelich DH | MIL
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Surgery wouldn't jeopardize 2025
Yelich said Wednesday that it's "not 100 percent" decided that he will undergo offseason back surgery, and if he does, he doesn't believe his availability for the start of the 2025 season would be in jeopardy, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Yelich was placed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a lower-back issue that's nagged at him off and on over the last few years. The decision was made to rest and rehab the injury for now, and Yelich has been receiving regular treatment. A timetable for his return from the IL isn't yet clear.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Resting against lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Pederson will hit the bench for a third straight game, with all of those absences coming against southpaws. The 32-year-old continues to be deployed as a strict platoon player, but he's raked against righties this season, slashing .286/.387/.532 (155 wRC+) in those matchups.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Nursing wrist injury
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Moreno is dealing with a sore left wrist after being struck by a foul ball Tuesday, but Moreno will be available off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Since Moreno started behind the plate in Tuesday night's 17-0 win and the Diamondbacks are closing their series with the Nationals with a day game, he would have been a candidate to sit Wednesday even if he was 100 percent healthy. The wrist issue will provide further reason for the Diamondbacks to give Moreno the day off, though the injury shouldn't be anything that costs him time moving forward. The expectation is that Moreno will be back behind the plate in Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh following Thursday's team off day.

Alek Thomas CF | LAD
Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Sitting against southpaw
Thomas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Thomas will take a seat for the third time in five games, with all of those absences coming against left-handed pitching. The lefty-hitting Thomas still appears to have a grasp on a strong-side platoon role.
-
Jake McCarthy LF | COL
Diamondbacks' Jake McCarthy: Seeing steady at-bats
McCarthy will start in center field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Though McCarthy doesn't have a direct path to an everyday role, Arizona has now been able to squeeze him into the lineup for five straight games while giving four days off to Joc Pederson, three to Alek Thomas and one apiece to Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel during that stretch. All of the absences for Pederson, Thomas and Carroll have come against left-handed pitching, so McCarthy at least looks to be viewed as a short-side bat, even though he's a left-handed hitter himself. McCarthy has helped his case for holding down a semi-regular role by going 9-for-18 with a stolen base, four runs and three RBI over the previous four contests.
-
Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Taking seat Wednesday
Perdomo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Perdomo will take a seat in the day game after a night game, paving the way for Kevin Newman to draw a start at shortstop. In Tuesday's 17-0 win, Perdomo tied a season high with three hits while scoring twice and driving in two runs in five at-bats.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Receiving afternoon off
Moreno is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
The Diamondbacks will hand out rest to multiple regulars for the matinee contest after Tuesday night's 17-0 dismantling of the Nationals. Jose Herrera will fill in behind the plate for Moreno, who was one of several Arizona batters to get in on the act Tuesday with two hits, three RBI and two runs over his three at-bats.
