  • Rockies' Lucas Gilbreath: Activated from 60-day IL

The Rockies activated Gilbreath (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Gilbreath has been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in March 2023. When he appears in a game for the Rockies, it will be his first at the major-league level since June of 2022.

  • Drew Romo C | CHW

Rockies' Drew Romo: Gets call-up from Triple-A

The Rockies selected Romo's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The switch-hitting Romo earned his first big-league promotion after hitting .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. He and Jacob Stallings will form the Rockies' catching duo down the stretch following the release of Elias Diaz.

  • Jordan Walker RF | STL

Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Gets start versus lefty

Walker will start in right field and bat seventh in Friday's game versus the Dodgers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Walker is being used on the short side of a platoon in right field by the Cardinals, starting two games versus lefties and beginning on the bench in two games against right-handers since his return to the majors. Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson will take a seat Friday.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Sitting versus southpaw

Nootbaar is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

The left-handed hitting Nootbaar will take a seat as the Dodgers use southpaw Justin Wrobleski as their starting pitcher. It will be Tommy Pham in left field and Jordan Walker in right field for St. Louis.

  • Alec Burleson 1B | STL

Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Out against left-hander

Burleson is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Dodgers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

The Dodgers are sending lefty Justin Wrobleski to the hill, so the left-handed hitting Burleson will begin this one on the bench. Tommy Pham and Jordan Walker are in the corner outfield spots for the Cardinals and Willson Contreras will be the designated hitter.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Activated from IL

The Marlins activated Fortes (quadricep) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Fortes has fully recovered from a right quadriceps strain and will reclaim his spot on the active roster, sending Jhonny Pereda back to Triple-A Jacksonville. While he'll be active for Friday's game against the Mets, Fortes isn't part of the starting lineup.

  • Marlins' Jhonny Pereda: Headed to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Pereda to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

With Nick Fortes (quad) returning from the injured list, Pereda will lose his spot on the active roster. Pereda went 3-for-9 with two RBI during his eight-day stint with Miami.

  • Matt McLain 2B | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Resuming baseball activities

McLain (shoulder/rib) has been cleared to resume baseball work, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Mclain's recovery from offseason surgery on his left shoulder was derailed in early August when he sustained a stress reaction in his rib cage. He was temporarily shut down from baseball activities and a rehab assignment scheduled to begin Aug. 12 was cancelled. However, he's back to swinging a bat and participating in other drills. The Reds haven't announced a new date for McLain to start his minor-league rehab assignment, and he shouldn't be expected back until September.

  • Dedniel Nunez RP | NYM

Mets' Dedniel Nunez: Faces hitters, assignment nearing

Nunez (forearm) threw 20 pitches of live batting practice Friday and expects to begin a rehab assignment next, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Nunez went up against batters for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 26 and left the session without a setback. While it's unclear when he'll be shipped out for a minor-league rehab assignment, the 28-year-old expects a rehab stint to be the next step in his recovery from a strained right forearm.

  • Parker Dunshee RP | ATL

Braves' Parker Dunshee: Clears waivers, outrighted

Dunshee cleared waivers Friday and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Atlanta designated Dunshee for assignment Wednesday and after clearing waivers, the 29-year-old will return to Gwinnett. Dunshee has logged a 2.51 ERA across 32.1 innings at Triple-A but surrendered five runs in 2.1 innings during his MLB debut Aug. 8.
