Carmen Mlodzinski RP | PIT
Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Beginning rehab assignment
Mlodzinski (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.
Mlodzinski has been on the shelf since July 30 with a strained right shoulder, but he's been given the green light to pitch in games. The 25-year-old reliever appears to be on track to return before the start of September.

Colin Holderman RP | CLE
Pirates' Colin Holderman: Sent for rehab assignment
Holderman (wrist) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.
Holderman threw 22-to-25 pitches of live batting practice last Friday and will head to Indianapolis to begin what's expected to be a brief rehab assignment. The right-hander sprained his right wrist Aug. 8 and becomes eligible to return Friday.

Luken Baker 1B | ARI
Cardinals' Luken Baker: Summoned from minors
The Cardinals recalled Baker from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Baker has slashed .231/.345/.535 with 32 home runs in 108 games this season at Memphis, which includes a 1.096 OPS versus left-handed pitching. The 27-year-old is blocked by Paul Goldschmidt at first base but figures to see some looks at designated hitter against southpaws.

Harrison Bader CF | SF
Mets' Harrison Bader: Sitting Tuesday
Bader is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Baltimore.
Bader is on the bench for the second time in three games, giving way to Tyrone Taylor in center field Tuesday. Considering Starling Marte has returned from an IL stint to man right field most nights, Bader could cede more work to Taylor in center field. Bader is in the midst of a 0-for-12 slump and has just a .214 batting average in August, a span in which Taylor is hitting .270.

Jordan Walker RF | STL
Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Optioned back to minors
The Cardinals optioned Walker to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Walker was recalled early last week, but he was given only three starts in six games, with all of those coming against left-handers. He went just 1-for-11 over that stretch and is now headed back to Memphis, where he can receive regular reps again.
-
Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Returns from injured list
The Cardinals reinstated Carpenter (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
The 38-year-old will end up missing only the 10-day minimum due to a back strain. Carpenter went 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts in his lone start of August prior to landing on the shelf, and he's unlikely to see consistent at-bats for the Cardinals down the stretch.

Austin Hays LF | SD
Phillies' Austin Hays: Starting rehab stint
Hays (hamstring) was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday.
The 29-year-old landed on the injured list with a strained hamstring Aug. 9, so he's already eligible to rejoin the active roster. Given the brevity of the absence, Hays should require only a couple games in the minors to get back up to speed.

Starling Marte RF | KC
Mets' Starling Marte: Taking seat Tuesday
Marte is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.
Marte started in back-to-back games -- one against a RHP and one against a LHP --after being activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday but will take a seat Tuesday. The 35-year-old missed nearly two months with a bruised right knee, so it's likely that Tuesday is nothing more than a rest day for Marte. In his place, Jesse Winker will bat sixth and play right field.
-
Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX
Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Back in lineup
Nimmo (shoulder) is batting third and playing left field Tuesday against the Orioles.
Nimmo was removed from Sunday's game with right shoulder discomfort and was held out of the starting nine for Monday's series opener. However, he'll return to the lineup for Tuesday's game, patrolling left field. Nimmo has homered in two of his last three games, collecting four RBI and four runs scored during that stretch.

Blaze Alexander 3B | BAL
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Optioned to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Alexander to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Luis Guillorme, who was signed Tuesday. Alexander's latest stint in the majors lasted less than a week and he went hitless in 10 plate appearances.
