Schwarber (elbow) will bat leadoff as the Phillies' designated hitter in Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Schwarber was pulled from Tuesday's 9-4 win in the fourth inning, after he had previously appeared to have hurt his elbow an inning earlier when he retreated to first base on a pickoff attempt. His inclusion in the lineup a day later likely suggests that his removal was precautionary, so fantasy managers in leagues with daily lineup moves shouldn't have many qualms about keeping the slugger active Wednesday. Schwarber has opened September with a nine-game hitting streak, during which he's slashed a scintillating .417/.463/1.083 with seven home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs.

Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Goodman will hit the bench after he started both of the previous two games at catcher, going 1-for-6 with a solo home run and a walk. Drew Romo will get a turn behind the dish Wednesday, and the Rockies also have a third catcher on the 28-man active roster in Jacob Stallings. With that in mind, the Rockies could treat the catcher spot as a three-man committee rather than relying heavily on Goodman down the stretch.

Beck is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Detroit.

In his first six games this month, Beck has gone just 1-for-17 at the plate with 10 strikeouts. He'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench while Jake Cave handles right field for the Rockies.

Smith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Though he's settled into the large side of a platoon in left field following Lourdes Gurriel's (calf) move to the injured list, the lefty-hitting Smith will take a seat Wednesday against Rangers southpaw Cody Bradford. Platoon mate Randal Grichuk will step in for Smith.

Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Lefty Cody Bradford is on the hill for the Rangers, so the lefty-hitting Pederson will head to the bench in the series finale. Pederson's absence will clear the way for Josh Bell to pick up a start as Arizona's designated hitter.

Winker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Though right-hander Bowden Francis is on the hill for Toronto, the lefty-hitting Winker will find himself as the odd man out of the lineup Wednesday. Between the outfield and designated hitter, the Mets have four spots available in their regular lineup for five players (Winker, Brandon Nimmo, Harrison Bader, Starling Marte and J.D. Martinez), so manager Carlos Mendoza will likely rotate off days among that group. Through nine games in September, Winker has gone 2-for-22 with seven strikeouts, so he could end up sitting more frequently than the other four players if he's unable to break out of his funk at the plate.

Snelling has a 3.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB in 31 innings across six starts for Double-A Pensacola.

The Marlins acquired Snelling as part of the deadline deal that sent Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing to the Padres. The 20-year-old lefty had a mediocre 10.3 K-BB% prior to the trade and has a 17.1 K-BB% since the deal. Snelling is the youngest qualified starter at Double-A and has now logged 100-plus innings in back-to-back minor-league campaigns.

Atlanta designated Herget for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for utility man Cavan Biggio, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Gwinnett. After being acquired from the Angels in early May, Herget made eight appearances out of Atlanta bullpen, logging a 4.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 15:3 K:BB in 12.1 innings. He was optioned to Gwinnett on Aug. 19 and will likely stick around with the Triple-A club if he clears waivers.

Atlanta optioned Williams to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Williams had been filling in at second base for the injured Whit Merrifield (foot) but didn't do much at the plate with a .581 OPS in seven contests. He's being replaced on the roster by Cavan Biggio, whose contract was selected Wednesday.

Biggo was acquired via trade from the Giants over the weekend and now joins the major-league roster after just one game at Gwinnett. He could get some chances at second base if Whit Merrifield's foot injury continues to linger. Biggio has slashed just .197/.316/.306 at the big-league level in 2024.
