  • White Sox's Randal Grichuk: Gets MLB deal from White Sox

The White Sox signed Grichuk to a one-year contract Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Grichuk elected free agency last week after being removed from the Yankees' 40-man roster, and he has managed to land another major-league deal. The 34-year-old's playing time with the White Sox will likely come mostly against left-handed pitching.

  • Randal Grichuk: Hits open market

Grichuk rejected an outright assignment from the Yankees on Friday and elected free agency. The veteran outfielder was designated for assignment earlier this week after batting .194 (6-for-33) with 10 strikeouts in 16 games to begin the season. Grichuk posted a .674 OPS in 113 regular-season games between Arizona and Kansas City last season and will likely have to settle for another minor-league contract

  • Yankees' Randal Grichuk: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Yankees designated Grichuk for assignment Wednesday. The Yankees signed Grichuk to start in the outfield against left-handed pitching, but the right-handed batter went only 5-for-22 with zero RBI and a 1:8 BB:K versus southpaws. Grichuk should land on his feet in a new organization in short order, but he might have to go to the minors first. Grichuk's removal from the roster gives Jasson Dominguez a better chance to stick around indefinitely.

  • Yankees' Randal Grichuk: Back to bench Wednesday

Grichuk is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Grichuk will hit the bench after starting in each of the Yankees' last three games, the past two of which came against southpaws. He had been hitless on the season heading into Tuesday's 7-1 loss before breaking through with an eighth-inning double off Reid Detmers. Grichuk is likely to be limited to a short-side platoon role moving forward.

  • Yankees' Randal Grichuk: Added to big-league roster

The Yankees selected Grichuk's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. Grichuk didn't do much this spring as a non-roster invitee, but it had always been expected that he would head north with the big club. He will mostly operate in a reserve role but will see some starts against left-handed pitching.

  • Yankees' Randal Grichuk: Breaking camp with big club

Manager Aaron Boone announced Saturday that Grichuk will be on the Yankees' Opening Day roster, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports. Grichuk hasn't performed very well in spring training, going just 2-for-16 at the dish while striking out six times, but he'll open the season as bench depth for the Yankees' outfield unit. Most of his opportunities in the Bronx will likely come against left-handed starters.

  • Yankees' Randal Grichuk: Signs NRI deal with Yankees

Grichuk signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Wednesday and was invited to spring training, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Grichuk turned in one of the worst seasons of his career last year, slashing .228/.273/.401 with 27 RBI and 35 runs scored across 293 plate appearances between Arizona and Kansas City. The Yankees have been searching for a right-handed bat to play in the outfield, though the 34-year-old will first need to earn a spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Royals' Randal Grichuk: Sitting in third straight game

Grichuk is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox. After being acquired from the Diamondbacks on July 26, Grichuk initially appeared set to get a look as a full-time player in Kansas City, but he may have fallen back into a short-side platoon role since the Royals traded for the lefty-hitting Mike Yastrzemski on Thursday. The right-handed-hitting Grichuk will be on the bench Monday for a third straight matchup versus a right-handed pitcher (Brayan Bello), as the Royals counter with a left-handed-hitting designated hitter (Adam Frazier) and an all-lefty outfield featuring John Rave, Kyle Isbel and Yastrzemski from left to right.

  • Royals' Randal Grichuk: On bench again versus righty

Grichuk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. Grichuk started four of his first five games with the Royals, but he could be at risk of falling onto the short side of a platoon after Mike Yastrzemski was acquired at the trade deadline. Grichuk's playing time could be squeezed further when Jac Caglianone (hamstring) returns from the injured list and reclaims an everyday role sometime in August.

  • Royals' Randal Grichuk: Sitting Saturday

Grichuk isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays. Grichuk will step out of the lineup Saturday after going 4-for-17 with a home run and three runs scored through his first five games as a Royal. His absence will put Mike Yastrzemski at the DH spot while John Rave starts in right field.

  • Royals' Randal Grichuk: Slugs first bomb with new team

Grichuk went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against Atlanta. The Royals' recent trade pickup launched his first home run with the team Monday, taking Dylan Lee deep in the eighth inning. Grichuk has hit safely in each of his first two games with Kansas City, going 3-for-9 with Monday's solo shot. The veteran sports just a 5.2 percent walk rate, but he represents a solid infusion of power considering his .467 slugging percentage over 72 games this season. In the short term, he's filling in as the primary right fielder while rookie Jac Caglianone (hamstring) is out and has the flexibility to play other outfield spots or serve as the designated hitter once Caglianone returns.

  • Royals' Randal Grichuk: Moving to American League

Arizona traded Grichuk to the Royals on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Diamondbacks are getting minor-league reliever Andrew Hoffmann in return. Grichuk started in right field for the Diamondbacks against Pittsburgh on Saturday but was pulled after two at-bats and was subsequently seen hugging teammates in the dugout. He posted a modest .742 OPS over 70 contests with the Diamondbacks while collecting seven home runs and 22 RBI. Grichuk has pounded as many as 31 homers in an MLB season and could provide a power boost for the Royals, who rank 29th in MLB with 85 long balls on the campaign. His addition could be especially timely if Jac Caglianone, who suffered a hamstring injury Saturday, needs to miss time.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Three hits in Tuesday's loss

Grichuk went 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Astros. Grichuk has logged a pair of three-hit efforts over his last five games. The veteran outfielder has received a steadier run of playing time in this series versus Houston, a team with a left-handed-heavy rotation. Grichuk should be in the lineup again Wednesday versus southpaw Brandon Walter. For the season, Grichuk is now at a .249/.286/.473 slash line with seven home runs, 22 RBI, 25 runs scored and no stolen bases across 182 plate appearances, primarily in a short-side platoon role.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Plays against righty

Grichuk started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to Kansas City. Grichuk typically starts against left-handers but was used against a righty (Michael Lorenzen) in the series finale between the two teams. Arizona's usual DH against righties, Pavin Smith, was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury. Grichuk could get additional opportunities while Smith is unavailable, but manager Torey Lovullo likes to exploit lefty-righty matchups whenever possible. That means one of the three lefty-hitting outfielders could see time at DH against righties.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Enters mid-game, homers

Grichuk went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over Kansas City. Grichuk entered mid-game, pinch hitting for Pavin Smith when a lefty reliever entered the game, and he served as the designated hitter for the remainder of the game. His two-run shot in the eighth inning looked like a standup inside-the-park homer, but a replay confirmed the ball barely cleared the fence and hit a chair in the picnic area in right-center. It was Grichuk's fifth home run in 59 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Stepping out of lineup

Grichuk is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Grichuk will get a breather for the day game after he had started in each of the last seven games -- five in right field, two at designated hitter -- while going 6-for-25 with two extra-base knocks, one walk, four RBI and five runs. With Corbin Carroll (wrist) on the injured list, Grichuk and the left-handed-hitting Jake McCarthy could end up settling into a platoon in right field, though McCarthy (.246 OPS in 51 plate appearances in the majors this season) may need to raise his performance before he emerges as the preferred option against right-handed pitching.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Makes fifth straight start

Grichuk started in right field and went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Colorado. Grichuk knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and singled in a run two innings later. He's started five consecutive games, which includes three against left-handers and two against righties. Grichuk routinely starts against southpaws, but his presence against right-handers is due to Corbin Carroll's hand injury. Carroll has missed four games due to the injury, and now the Diamondbacks will have him undergo an MRI. Arizona is scheduled to face White Sox right-hander Shane Smith on Monday.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Fills in against righty

Grichuk started in right field and went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Thursday's 9-5 win over the Blue Jays. Grichuk got a rare start against a right-hander while filling in for the injured Corbin Carroll (hand). Regardless of Carroll's status for Friday's game against Colorado, Grichuk will likely start against Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber. Grichuk's having a rough June, going 2-for-20 with three walks and one RBI over nine games.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Strong effort in Saturday's loss

Grichuk went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 11-7 loss to the Nationals. Grichuk was in the lineup versus a right-handed pitcher for just the second time this season, getting the start in left field. His homer also came off a righty, as he took reliever Jackson Rutledge deep in the sixth inning. Grichuk is up to three homers this season, two of which have come over his last five games. He's batting .275 with 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 86 plate appearances on the year, while mainly working in a short-side platoon between the corner outfield and designated hitter.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Homers in loss

Grichuk went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals. Grichuk tied the game in the fifth inning with his second homer of the season, and both have come in his last seven games. He typically plays against left-handers only and is a better fit for fantasy leagues with daily transactions. Grichuk mashed southpaws last season but got off to a middling start in 2025 before making a bigger impact lately, going 7-for-17 (.412) with a 1.235 OPS over his last seven contests.
