The Diamondbacks placed Sewald on the 15-day injured list Sunday with left neck discomfort.

The timing of Sewald's move to the IL means that he won't be eligible to return until the Diamondbacks' final series of the regular season, which begins Sept. 27. Even before the neck issue cropped up, Sewald's fantasy value had been on the downturn with Justin Martinez having started to build up security as the Diamondbacks' preferred closing option. Sewald didn't help his case for regaining the closer's gig after giving up at least one run in four of his last six appearances before landing on the IL.

The Diamondbacks reinstated Moreno (adductor) from the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Moreno won't enter the lineup Sunday against the Brewers in his return to the 28-man active roster, but the 24-year-old will be available off the bench after completing his recovery from the left adductor strain that had kept him on the shelf for nearly five weeks. Though he didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, Moreno was able to prove his health by playing in simulated games at the Diamondbacks' spring facility in Arizona in recent days. He could be eased back into the fold with a lighter catching load initially, but the expectation is that Moreno will be ready to serve as the club's No. 1 backstop by the time the postseason gets underway.

The Diamondbacks recalled Walston from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The left-hander was activated from the injured list in mid-August after missing two months due to an elbow issue, but he was immediately sent to Triple-A. Walston has started in two of his three appearances with Arizona this season, but he's likely to work in a long-relief role this time around.

The Diamondbacks designated Floro for assignment Sunday.

The right-hander was acquired from the Nationals at the summer trade deadline, but he struggled to a 9.37 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB over 16.1 innings with the Diamondbacks. Floro could elect to become a free agent if he passes through waivers unclaimed, but he won't be eligible for the playoffs with a new team.

Goodman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Goodman will take a seat for the series finale after he started behind the dish Friday and Saturday. Even though he's unlikely to be used Sunday, Goodman paid huge dividends for fantasy managers that streamed him this weekend, as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI in Friday's 9-5 win. The Rockies have been running a three-man committee at catcher lately with Goodman, Jacob Stallings and Drew Romo, but Goodman's ability to play first base, corner outfield and designated hitter in addition to working behind the plate should enable him to handle a near-everyday role down the stretch.

The Rockies optioned Blalock to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

With Cal Quantrill (tricep) returning from the injured list to start Sunday's game against the Cubs and Antonio Senzatela (elbow) set to return from the IL to start Monday versus the Diamondbacks, the Rockies no longer had room in the rotation for Blalock. The right-hander made six starts for Colorado following his Aug. 12 call-up from Triple-A, logging a 1-3 record with a 6.07 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 20:19 K:BB in 29.2 innings.

Fitzgerald (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

He'll hit the bench for a third straight game on the bench after exitingThursday's matchup with the Brewers due to lower-back tightness. The 27-year-old was cleared of structural damage when an MRI came back negative Friday, so he should continue to be considered day-to-day.

Grichuk was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers due to lower-body tightness, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Grichuk was scheduled to start in left field and bat third, but the back issue will instead keep him out of the lineup. The veteran outfielder is expected to be available off the bench, so he doesn't appear to be dealing with a serious injury. Pavin Smith is instead starting in left field for Arizona.

Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Contreras started the past eight games and will receive a day off after going 9-for-27 with two doubles, two homers, eight RBI and six runs. Eric Haase will do the catching for left-hander DL Hall in the series finale.

Tatis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Tatis started the previous five games and will receive a breather after going 7-for-24 with three homers and a stolen base. David Peralta will take over in right field and bat eighth in the series finale at San Francisco.
