The Giants recalled Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

The 25-year-old spent the past couple weeks in the minors but will rejoin the big club Tuesday as Matt Chapman heads to the paternity list. Schmitt has a .206/.255/.324 slash line in 277 plate appearances in the majors this season.

The Giants are expected to place Chapman on the paternity list Tuesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Chapman looked to be getting a maintenance day, as he was out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Baltimore, but he's actually stepped away from the team to be with his growing family. The veteran third baseman -- whose absence Tuesday is just his sixth of the campaign -- should be back with the Giants in time for Friday's series opener in Kansas City.

Kiner-Falefa is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in St. Louis.

Kiner-Falefa had been at shortstop and leading off for the Pirates' last six contests, but he will begin Tuesday's game on the bench. Nick Gonzales is getting a start at shortstop and will also be at the top of the batting order.

Cruz (ankle) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest in St. Louis.

It's the second straight start Cruz has missed after he had to leave Sunday's tilt against the Royals with left ankle soreness. He is considered day-to-day. Michael Taylor will occupy center field as the Pirates try to even the series.

Perkins is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

It marks the third time over the Brewers' last four games versus right-handed pitching that Perkins has been absent from the lineup. Milwaukee is going with Garrett Mitchell in center field.

Senga (calf) threw a bullpen session and did some pitchers' fielding practice drills Tuesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that it remains possible Senga will return sometime during the final week of the regular season. If that happens, it will almost certainly have to be in a relief role, as Senga does not have time to get stretched back out to start.

Bohm is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Bohm started the first two games for the Phillies after being activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday, but he'll receive some rest Tuesday. Edmundo Sosa -- who is fresh off the IL himself -- will cover third base for Philadelphia in Bohm's stead.

The Cubs recalled Palencia from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Palencia has collected a 7.11 ERA over nine appearances out of the Cubs' bullpen this season. The hard-throwing right-hander will give the club a fresh relief arm.

Nimmo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Washington, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Nimmo posted a .544 OPS while starting the previous 13 games, and he'll receive a maintenance day Tuesday as lefty MacKenzie Gore takes the mound for the Nationals. Harrison Bader will start in center field and bat eighth.
