Peterson was removed from Sunday's start against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to nausea and blurred vision, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander was in clear discomfort during the fifth inning and was finally pulled with two outs after he had two walks and a hit-by-pitch to three straight batters. Prior to that inning, Peterson was pitching well and still allowed just one run across his 4.2 frames. Peterson should be OK for his next turn through the rotation versus the A's next weekend.

Triple-A Indianapolis placed Yorke on its 7-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder soreness, Dan Zagrilli of 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh reports.

According to Pirates general manager Ben Cherington, the sore shoulder has been an issue for Yorke since late in spring training, and the organization wasn't keen on having him continuing playing while he was compromised. The shoulder issue had yet to cause a decline in his production early on in the season at Indianapolis, as Yorke went 5-for-15 with three doubles, two walks, two runs and one RBI through four games. Cherington anticipates Yorke being in line for a brief stay on the shelf.

Diaz picked up the save in Sunday's 2-1 win against the Blue Jays, pitching a clean inning with a strikeout.

The right-hander flamethrower collected his 227th career save, smoothly retiring the side on just 10 pitches. The 15.8 percent walk rate Diaz posted in the Grapefruit League looks like an anomaly, as he is yet to issue a free pass across his first four scoreless innings this season while punching out six.

Cortes, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow strain prior to Sunday's game against the Reds, said he will receive a second opinion on his injury, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

After he was lit up by the Yankees for eight earned runs over two innings in his Brewers debut last weekend, Cortes acknowledged that he was feeling more sore than usual and not recovering well following that start. However, with an MRI earlier this week revealed nothing concerning, Cortes felt well enough to pitch Thursday and delivered a gem in the Brewers' win over the Reds, allowing just three baserunners and striking out six over six scoreless innings. According to Ryan Herrera of MLB.com, Cortes' elbow still felt sore Friday, prompting him to alert the Brewers' medical team Saturday. A collective decision was made for Cortes to skip his next start and go on the IL, but the Brewers are still in the information-gathering stage and aren't yet worried about a long-term absence for the southpaw. For his part, Cortes described his level of concern as "pretty low," but a timeline for his return as well as a treatment plan for his elbow might not be established until he gets checked out by another doctor. Cortes is now the eighth Milwaukee starting pitcher to hit the IL this season, leaving Freddy Peralta as the lone healthy member of the Brewers' planned five-man rotation.

Manager Terry Francona said Sunday that Diaz (hamstring) will make at least a couple more appearances on his rehab assignment before being reinstated from the 15-day injured list, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

The right-hander began the rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville on Friday and delivered a scoreless frame, but the Reds want to see him get a few outings in the minors before making his season debut in the majors. Diaz remains the favorite to close games once activated, though he could see lower-leverage chances early on to ease him into the role.

Peterson kept the Blue Jays off the board over the first four innings but seemed to be in discomfort while laboring through the top of the fifth. He was visited on the mound on multiple occasions during the inning and issued a pair of walks and also hit a batter to load the bases before manager Carlos Mendoza pulled him from the game. Max Kranick came on from the bullpen and recorded the final out of the inning to strand three runners and allow the Mets to maintain a one-run lead that held up as the difference, but Peterson didn't qualify for the win after narrowly missing out on the five-inning threshold. Mendoza should provide more details regarding Peterson's situation after the game, but for now, the left-hander tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Athletics in Sacramento.

Woodruff (shoulder) will throw a simulated game Monday before reporting to Triple-A Nashville to begin a rehab assignment, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The veteran right-hander can take up to 30 days on the rehab assignment, and he'll likely require most of that time to continue building his way back up from the shoulder surgery he underwent in October 2023. Woodruff will be a key rotation piece for Milwaukee once activated, especially with Nestor Cortes (elbow), Aaron Civale (hamstring) and Tobias Myers (oblique) all dealing with early-season injuries.

Atlanta designated Tromp for assignment Sunday.

With Sean Murphy (rib) completing his rehab assignment and ready to return from the 10-day injured list in advance of the big club's next game Tuesday versus Philadelphia, Atlanta elected to activate him a couple days early. Tromp ended up being the casualty, as he'll surrendered his spot on the 26-man active roster to Tromp while also losing his spot on the 40-man roster since he doesn't have minor-league options remaining. Atlanta is hopeful Tromp will go unclaimed off waivers and stick around in the organization as catching depth at Triple-A Gwinnett. Tromp appeared in just two of Atlanta's first nine games while Drake Baldwin dominated the playing time behind the plate.

Herrera was diagnosed with left knee inflammation after exiting in the third inning of the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Red Sox, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Herrera went 0-for-1 with a walk before leaving the contest after he appeared to injure his knee while running the bases. Pedro Pages came off the bench to replace Herrera in the bottom of the third inning and will finish out the game behind the plate while also drawing the start at catcher in the nightcap. The Cardinals seem to be viewing Herrera as day-to-day, though he could be at risk of landing on the IL if he's not able to return to the lineup within the next few games.

Fitzgerald is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Mariners, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Fitzgerald has yet to find his footing at the plate this season and has gone 4-for-24 through seven games, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Christian Koss will step in at the keystone and bat ninth for the Giants.
