Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: May avoid IL stint
Texas manager Skip Schumaker said Tuesday that Nimmo (shoulder) was doing much better and may not need to go on the injured list, Henry Palatella of MLB.com reports.
Apparently, Nimmo did a lot of healing in a 24-hour period. On Monday, Schumaker said the injury could "potentially" lead to Nimmo going on the injured list. The outfielder was held out for a second consecutive game Tuesday and was not available off the bench.

Nimmo suffered the shoulder injury during a 3-2 win over Toronto on Sunday, when he collided with the outfield wall while securing the game's final out. The Rangers held Nimmo out of the lineup for Monday's series opener in Cleveland while he awaited the results of his medical tests, which revealed the shoulder sprain. Manager Skip Schumaker said that while a trip to the IL is a possibility for Nimmo, the team won't make a final decision until sending him in for more imaging Tuesday.

Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Headed for MRI on shoulder
Nimmo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians and underwent an MRI on his shoulder earlier in the day, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Nimmo played a full nine innings during Sunday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays, but he appeared to be in pain after colliding with the right-field wall while he flagged down a flyball for the game's final out. Per Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Nimmo relayed after the game that he suffered a cut above his eye in addition to jamming his shoulder. Nimmo said that he felt "OK" upon reporting to the ballpark Monday, though he acknowledged that his shoulder is still sore. The Rangers aren't expected to make him available off the bench for the series opener in Cleveland while the results of his MRI are pending.

Nimmo came on strong late, homering in the eighth inning before adding an RBI triple in the ninth.
