Dunn is not in Cincinnati's starting lineup against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Dunn will sit for the series finale after going 0-for-4 with two walks, two runs scored and three strikeouts in the last two games. Gavin Lux, TJ Friedl and Jake Fraley will man the outfield Sunday.

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, with manager Terry Francona noting that the first baseman is "banged up" due to back and hamstring issues, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

Encarnacion-Strand will miss out on a start for the second day in a row due to the pair of injury concerns, both of which he contended with at points during the 2023 season. However, Francona said he expects Encarnacion-Strand to be available off the bench Sunday, so the Reds don't appear to be too concerned about the 25-year-old potentially needing a stint on the shelf.

Atlanta recalled Petersen from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

He'll take over the 26-man active roster spot that previously belonged to starter AJ Smith-Shawver, who was optioned to Gwinnett ahead of the activation of Spencer Strider (elbow) from the injured list next week. The hard-throwing Petersen is likely to occupy a low-leverage role out of the Atlanta bullpen after submitting a 5.95 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 19.2 innings in the majors last year between stops with the Dodgers and Marlins.

Marte started at third base and went 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Marte made his first start since being called up earlier this week. He singled in the seventh inning and scored the Reds' final run. It's unclear what Cincinnati manager Terry Francona has planned for Marte in terms of playing time, as there's a crowd at third base with Jeimer Candelario and Gavin Lux also in the mix.

Stewart went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader for Double-A Chattanooga.

Stewart bailed out the Lookouts, who were down to their final out before the 21-year-old hit a walk-off grand slam. He's handling his introduction to Double-A pitching with aplomb, going 11-for-28 (.393) with two home runs, four doubles, six RBI, four steals and eight runs through seven games.

Atlanta optioned Smith-Shawver to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Though Atlanta won't welcome Spencer Strider (elbow) back from the 15-day injured list until next week, Smith-Shawver will head to the minors now, with the team electing to proceed with Bryce Elder as its No. 5 starter. Smith-Shawver went 0-2 with a 4.61 ERA and 1.98 WHIP while issuing eight walks and striking out 17 over 13.2 innings, but an elevated .447 BABIP and 16.7 HR/FB% suggest that he likely would have been due for some positive regression. The 22-year-old could be back in the majors quickly if Elder struggles, or another rotation spot opens up due to injury.

Nelson (1-0) allowed one run on two hits and struck out three over three innings of relief to pick up the win in Saturday's 5-4 victory over the Brewers.

Nelson held Milwaukee mostly in check until the Diamondbacks rallied for five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the right-hander his first win. Since an unsightly debut, Nelson has allowed one run on three hits while striking out seven over 8.1 innings as a multi-inning reliever. While he competed for a rotation spot in camp, if the Diamondbacks need a spot starter in the near future, he may not be a candidate as he likely wouldn't be able to last five innings without first being stretched back out.

Thomas went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 5-4 win over Milwaukee.

Thomas was part of Arizona's five-run rally in the bottom of the ninth to steal the win from the Brewers. He got the scoring started with a one-out triple that plated Gabriel Moreno. He later came around to score on a Corbin Carroll double. This was Thomas' fourth multi-hit effort in nine starts.

Carroll went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Brewers.

The Diamondbacks entered the bottom of ninth down 4-0, but they rallied for five runs to escape with a walk-off win. Carroll was in the middle of the rally with a two-run double, his team-leading 11th extra-base hit of the season. It's hard to remember Carroll's 2024 season-opening slump that lingered into the second half of the season. He's batting .322/.412/.695 with 10 RBI and 12 runs over 68 plate appearances.

Amaya went 2-for-3 with a home run, three total runs and three total RBI against the Dodgers in a 16-0 victory Saturday.

Amaya didn't start the contest, but he was moved into the DH role after Seiya Suzuki exited in the fifth inning due to a wrist injury. Amaya took advantage of the opportunity, knocking a two-run single and a solo home run. Fellow backstop Carson Kelly had a big day of his own with two homers, and the duo has split catching duties pretty evenly of late, with Amaya getting the start behind the plate in four of the team's past eight games.
