Holmes could be moved to the Atlanta bullpen when Spencer Strider (hamstring) returns from the 15-day injured list next week, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Manager Brian Snitker said the club will not use a six-man rotation, so it seems either Holmes or Bryce Elder will lose their spot. Elder has minor-league options remaining, so sending him to Triple-A Gwinnett is a possibility. However, Elder has been more consistent than Holmes lately, and Holmes also had lots of success in a relief role last season. Atlanta's rotation intentions should become clearer in the coming days. Currently, Holmes is lined up to start Saturday in Boston.

It's still unclear exactly which game Strider will pitch in Atlanta's upcoming three-game series against the Nationals, but Snitker's comments confirm that the 26-year-old righty will return to the rotation without making a rehab start in the minors. Strider only built up to 65 pitches and experienced decreased velocity during his sim game Wednesday, so there's a chance he'll be working under some workload restrictions when he makes his return from a strained right hamstring.

Whisenhunt has a 1.71 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and a 23:1 K:BB in 21 innings over his last three starts for Triple-A Sacramento.

He gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks with one strikeout in three innings April 25 against El Paso, but Whisenhunt has been lights out since, going seven innings per start. Whisenhunt sits 92-93 mph with his fastball, but the 24-year-old lefty has one of the best changeups in the minors and he mixes in his average slider roughly 30 percent of the time.

The Dodgers recalled Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Wrobleski will offer length in the bullpen Thursday against the Athletics while Matt Sauer makes a spot start. The left-hander was roughed up for eight runs in five frames in a spot start with the big club last month but has yielded just three runs over 13 innings in his last two starts with OKC.

The Dodgers optioned Feyereisen to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Feyereisen allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk over two innings during his brief time with the big club. He's being replaced on the roster by Justin Wrobleski.

Villar went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Villar started at first base Wednesday, collecting two free passes for the first time this season. Additionally, the 28-year-old hit an infield single in the fourth inning before coming around to score his first run since April 22. The infielder has made five appearances in May, slashing .222/.462/.222 with a 3:2 BB:K across 13 plate appearances.

Huff went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The 27-year-old received the starting nod behind the plate against southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. Huff lined a single into left field in the second inning before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly. The catcher has made four appearances in May, slashing .167/.154/.167 with a 61.5 percent strikeout rate across 13 plate appearances.

Adames went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Adames drew a walk in the second inning before coming around to score San Francisco's first run. The 29-year-old shortstop also lined a ground-rule double into left-center field during the ninth, marking his third consecutive game with an extra-base hit. Over 13 appearances in May, Adames is slashing .264/.339/.528 with 11 runs scored, six RBI, five doubles and three home runs across 59 plate appearances.

Lee went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Lee went yard in the seventh inning, launching a 393-foot shot to right field off right-hander Ryne Nelson. The outfielder has homered in back-to-back games, during which he has collected five RBI on three hits across 10 plate appearances. The 26-year-old has tallied at least one hit in four of his last five games, slashing .238/.227/.524 with six RBI and three runs scored across 22 plate appearances during that span.

Birdsong allowed three earned runs on four hits (two home runs) and two walks while striking out three across three innings of relief in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks. He also hit a batter and uncorked a wild pitch.

The 23-year-old entered the game for Jordan Hicks with no outs and two runners on base in the third inning. Birdsong surrendered a three-run homer to the first batter he faced and later gave up a two-run shot in the fourth. The right-hander struggled with his control, throwing 34 of his 65 pitches for strikes while generating nine whiffs. Over his last five appearances, Birdsong has recorded a 3.48 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 12:4 K:BB, allowing three home runs across 10.1 innings.
