The Nationals placed Young on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left shoulder AC joint sprain.

Young initially suffered the injury when he collided with the outfield wall Saturday and was unable to make the necessary improvement to avoid a stint on the IL. He will be eligible for activation May 30, but it's the type of injury that could lead to longer than a minimum absence. Robert Hassell, Alex Call and Daylen Lile will help fill the void in the Nationals' outfield created by the absences of Young and Dylan Crews (oblique).

Garcia went 0-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-inning win over Atlanta.

The second baseman has gone 4-for-20 with a homer, a steal and six RBI in five games since rejoining the Nationals following a stint on the paternity list. Garcia's .222/.271/.346 slash line on the season is a far cry from the .282/.318/.444 line he delivered in a breakout 2024, but he's maintained some fantasy value with four homers, seven stolen bases, 19 RBI and 20 runs in 43 contests.

Wood went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Thursday's extra-inning win over Atlanta.

It was the third straight multi-hit performance for Wood, who is slashing a blistering .356/.435/.548 through 19 games in May with three homers, four steals, 12 RBI and 13 runs. The 22-year-old outfielder's .934 OPS on the season puts him eighth in the National League, just behind projected MVP candidates Corbin Carroll (.945) and Kyle Tucker (.939).

Rutledge (1-1) picked up the win in Thursday's extra-inning victory over Atlanta, allowing one hit in a scoreless 10th inning.

After Kyle Finnegan blew the save in the ninth, Rutledge held Atlanta's 5-6-7 hitters in check in the 10th before Amed Rosario walked it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame. Thye 26-year-old righty has given up earned runs in only two of his last 12 appearances, posting a 1.72 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB across 15.2 innings over that stretch. Should Finnegan be unavailable for closing duties at any point, Rutledge might be positioning himself to become the next man up for the Nats.

Sykora is being promoted to High-A Wilmington, Bobby Blanco of MASN Sports reports.

The 21-year-old right-hander made just one appearance at Single-A Fredericksburg this season after recovering from offseason hip surgery, firing three perfect innings with four strikeouts and two walks Tuesday, and that was enough to prove to the Nationals that he is ready for his next challenge. Sykora could debut with the Blue Rocks this weekend, and a strong performance in the South Atlantic League might set him up for a bump up to Double-A before the end of the year.

Vodnik (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Hartford on Thursday.

Vodnik has been sidelined since April 20, with Thursday marking his first mound work since. He recorded only two outs and allowed two earned runs, but he should need only a few more rehab appearances before being activated.

Feltner (back) threw a bullpen session Thursday and is hoping to begin a rehab assignment soon, MLB.com reports.

Feltner has been on the injured list since early May but has now completed both a side session and bullpen session. It's unclear how many rehab starts he may need prior to activation, but a return in mid-June appears realistic.

McCutchen went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored Thursday against the Brewers.

McCutchen is hitting only .203 across 19 games in May and has not had a multi-hit effort since April 27. While he still has a .342 on-base percentage in that span, McCutchen has been limited to only two RBI and three runs scored for the month.

Horwitz went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI on Thursday against the Brewers.

He led off the fourth inning with a solo shot off Aaron Civale, Horwitz's first extra-base hit as a Pirate. He has gone 5-for-18 with only three strikeouts through six games since returning from a wrist injury and seems set in a strong-side platoon role at first base.

Megill picked up the save in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Pirates after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.

It was a spotless inning of work for Megill but not for the Brewers, who saw Carlos Rodriguez give up two earned runs in the frame. Megill allowed one of those runs to come across via a groundout, but it was still his 10th consecutive outing without being charged with an earned run. The hard-throwing right-hander has strengthened his hold on Milwaukee's closing job after a rocky beginning in 2025, having converted each of his last six save chances while posting a 0.93 ERA and 9:4 K:BB across his last 9.2 innings.
