The Cubs placed Amaya (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Amaya suffered a left oblique strain during Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Reds. He'll be eligible to rejoin the big club June 4, but given the nature of the injury, he will most likely be out beyond the minimum 10 days. The Cubs called up Reese McGuire from Triple-A Iowa to provide another option behind the plate, but Carson Kelly is likely to see the bulk of the starts at catcher while Amaya is on the shelf.

Call will start in left field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Call will pick up his fourth start in five games, with his outlook for playing time having improved with both Dylan Crews (oblique) and Jacob Young (shoulder) on the injured list. The Nationals called up two of their top outfield prospects in Robert Hassell and Daylen Lile to replace them, but Call should occupy a regular spot in the lineup versus left-handed pitching while still being in the mix against righties, too. The 30-year-old has held his own in matchups with same-handed pitching this season, slashing .254/.393/.373 (122 wRC+) in his 86 plate appearances versus righties.

Tena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Tena will take a seat for the second day in a row while the Giants send another left-handed starting pitcher to the bump in Robbie Ray. Amed Rosario will get the nod at third base Sunday, and he and Tena will continue to work in a platoon, potentially until Paul DeJong (orbital) returns from the injured list.

Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

The Nationals included Garcia in the lineup Saturday against southpaw Kyle Harrison, but the second baseman will take a seat Sunday against lefty Robbie Ray. Nasim Nunez will get a start at the keystone in Garcia's stead.

Bell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

The switch-hitting Bell has produced an abysmal .065/.216/.129 slash line over 37 plate appearances against lefties this season, and the Nationals seem content to treat him as a platoon player for the time being. He'll remain on the bench for the second day in a row as the Nationals face off against another Giants lefty in Robbie Ray.

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz will get a much-needed break after he had started at catcher in each of the Nationals' last eight games. Riley Adams will fill in for Ruiz behind the dish Sunday for just the ninth time all season.

Contreras (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Manager Oliver Marmol previously indicated that Contreras was expected to play Sunday, but the 33-year-old will instead sit for a third straight game due to back spasms. Alec Burleson will receive another start at first base for the Cardinals in Contreras' absence. According to John Denton of MLB.com, Contreras seemed to be moving around on the field prior to Sunday's game and was able to take some swings in the batting page, so the Cardinals are still seemingly viewing him as day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener in Baltimore.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey will get a breather after he had started behind the dish in each of the Giants' last four games. Sam Huff will handle catching duties Sunday.

Beck surrendered one earned run on two hits while striking out two over three innings in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Nationals.

The 28-year-old worked in long relief after being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, following the placement of Justin Verlander (pectoral) on the 15-day injured list. Beck threw 26 of his 38 pitches for strikes and delivered two scoreless innings before allowing two singles and a run in his final frame. Before being recalled, Beck posted a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 29:11 K:BB over 25 relief innings in 15 games for Sacramento.

Benson started in right field and went 0-for-3 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Cubs.

Benson was back in the lineup against a right-handed starter, after he was held out against southpaws the prior three games. Benson made an impact immediately after his call-up from Triple-A Louisville with five home runs, three doubles, 11 RBI, one steal and seven runs scored over his first 10 games. Since then, he's gone 0-for-5 over seven plate appearances. Jake Fraley (calf) has started a rehab assignment, so Benson's run as the primary right fielder against right-handed pitching may end soon.
