McLain entered Tuesday's game as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 with an RBI in a 7-2 win over the Royals.

McLain took a seat on the bench to open the game while Gavin Lux filled in at second base. McLain eventually pitch hit for Lux against a lefty, contributing a run-scoring groundout in the eighth inning, and then finished the game at the keystone. McLain's navigated an early-season slump but entered Tuesday's contest on a modest four-game hit streak (5-for-17).

Ginkel (0-3) allowed five runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Tuesday against Pittsburgh.

Ginkel entered after seven strong innings from Corbin Burnes, and Ginkel simply didn't have it. This was the second time this season he's given up five runs in an appearance. The right-hander, who was on the injured list for the first month, initially had issues coming off the IL but appeared to have righted himself. Ginkel threw five consecutive scoreless outings before picking up losses in his last two appearances. He has a 12.60 ERA and 2.10 WHIP over 10 innings this season.

Civale allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four in five innings Tuesday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Civale blanked the Red Sox through five innings while tossing 75 pitches. He returned for the sixth and was met with a ground-rule double from Ceddanne Rafaela, which ended his night. Rafaela would come around to score for the game's first run and leave Civale in line for the loss. Still, it was a needed bounce-back outing for Civale, who came in having allowed seven runs and four homers in seven innings this season. Civale lines up to make his third road start of the campaign next week against the Reds.

Naylor went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.

Naylor immediately extended a hit streak to six games with a single in the first inning and later stole his ninth base of the season. That's one steal shy of the career-high 10 he posted in 2023 while with Cleveland. His RBI single in the fourth inning upped the Diamondbacks' lead to 6-0 before the bullpen collapsed late. Naylor has five RBI over the last four contests, leaving him with 34 runs batted in through 54 games.

Yelich went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, a double, a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

Yelich was the hero Tuesday, walking off the Red Sox with a grand slam in the 10th inning. After an eight-game stretch during which Yelich went just 2-for-32 at the plate, he's tallied nine hits, including three homers, and has driven in eight runs over his last five games. Yelich still owns a low .210 batting average but he's now up to 10 steals and could get to 30 for just the second time in his career.

Lawlar started at second base in place of Ketel Marte (illness) and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to Pittsburgh.

Lawlar has now gone hitless with eight strikeouts in his 18 plate appearances since being called up from Triple-A Reno on May 12. He's had a tough go of it against off-speed offerings, particularly sliders, in a small sample size. The lack of steady playing time could be making it difficult for Lawlar to make adjustments, though he could get the chance to make a couple more starts if Marte's illness lingers for a few more days.

Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.

Gurriel has logged two steals over his last four games, and he has four multi-hit efforts across his last five contests. The outfielder's surge at the plate has him hitting .245 on the year while adding a .719 OPS, eight home runs, 31 RBI, 19 runs scored, three steals and 12 doubles over 51 games. Gurriel's average is still by far a career low, so he should continue to rebound closer to his normal level of production.

Carroll went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Pirates.

Carroll opened the scoring with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning, taking Mike Burrows' third pitch of the game out to right field. Prior to Tuesday, Carroll had gone 0-for-14 over his previous four contests. The outfielder's slump has him down to a .259/.329/.561 slash line on the year, but he's added 16 homers, 35 RBI, 42 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 55 games. Carroll is too talented to stay quiet for long, so expect him to get back on track sooner rather than later.

Burnes allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Tuesday.

Burnes was excellent aside from allowing a two-run home run to Henry Davis in the sixth inning. The Diamondbacks' bullpen then butchered the outing for Burnes, allowing a seven-run eighth inning to cost the right-hander a win. He's rattled off five straight quality starts and has gone seven innings three times in that span. He's at a 2.72 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 57:25 K:BB over 59.2 innings across 10 starts this season, as his slightly elevated walk rate (3.8 BB/9) hasn't come back to bite him too often yet. Burnes' next outing is projected to be at Atlanta next week.

Canario went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Diamondbacks.

Canario has three straight multi-hit efforts and has hit safely in his last five games. In that longer span, he's gone 9-for-22 (.409), though he also has a 1:9 BB:K during that stretch. The outfielder is at a .250/.304/.385 slash line with two steals, three home runs, seven RBI and 12 runs scored over 112 plate appearances this season. He has played regularly since May 9, typically occupying a spot in the middle of the lineup while seeing time at all three outfield positions.
