Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Back on bench after three straight starts
Rotowire
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Ramirez will retreat to the bench after he started each of the previous three games while going 4-for-13 with two doubles, one walk, one stolen base, three runs and two RBI. Joe Mack missed all of those contests while recovering from a shoulder injury, but he'll return to the lineup Wednesday. So long as Mack is healthy, he'll operate as the Marlins' No. 1 catcher, though Ramirez could spell him against left-handed pitching in addition to seeing occasional starts against right-handed pitching as a designated hitter.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Big day in Cincy
Rotowire
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
A game that began as a pitchers' duel between Eury Perez and Nick Lodolo turned into a Miami rout when the Cincinnati bullpen melted down late. Ramirez did his part, reaching on an error and scoring in the eighth inning before smacking a two-run double in the ninth. Since returning to the majors following the trade that sent Liam Hicks to Tampa Bay, Ramirez has gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two doubles, one steal, three RBI and five runs in 10 games.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Productive in Wednesday's win
Rotowire
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.
Getting the start at DH and batting sixth, Ramirez lashed an RBI double in the third inning that chased Carmen Mlodzinski from the game, his first extra-base hit since returning to the majors early this month. Ramirez has made only three starts in eight games since his promotion, two at DH and one at catcher, but he's batting .357 (5-for-14) during that span. If he keeps producing when he gets the chance, the 24-year-old should see his playing time creep up. There could be more opportunities available in the 1B/DH mix as well with Kyle Stowers (hamstring) having landed on the IL on Tuesday.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Officially recalled
Rotowire

The 24-year-old is back in the majors after a two-month stint at the Triple-A level. He's filling the roster spot vacated by Liam Hicks, who was traded to the Rays on Monday. Ramirez should see occasional starts behind the plate and will also start getting some reps at first base, per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com. Joe Mack will continue to operate as Miami's primary catcher.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Returning to big leagues
Rotowire
The Marlins will recall Ramirez from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Tuesday's contest in Atlanta, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Ramirez was sent down to Jacksonville in early May after slashing only .230/.318/.345 with two home runs in his first 31 contests. He's been better at Jacksonville, though a .254/.332/.427 batting line wasn't exactly forcing the Marlins' hand. Ramirez has not played a position other than catcher this season, and with Joe Mack slated to continue serving as the Marlins' primary backstop, it's unclear how much playing time Ramirez will receive.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Sent down to Triple-A
Rotowire
The Marlins optioned Ramirez to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Heading to Triple-A
Rotowire
The Marlins are expected to option Ramirez to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Ramirez will head to Jacksonville after posting a disappointing .230/.318/.345 slash line with two home runs, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases over 129 plate appearances in 31 contests with the Marlins this season. The 24-year-old hasn't shown improvement of late with a .200 average and 13 strikeouts over his last 14 games, so the Marlins appear ready to send him to Triple-A for a reset. In a corresponding move, the Marlins are expected to promote top catching prospect Joe Mack from Triple-A, and he could end up serving as Miami's primary catcher while Liam Hicks sees more starts at designated hitter and/or first base.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Goes deep in four-RBI performance
Rotowire
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional RBI, an additional run scored and a walk in Monday's 10-4 win over Atlanta.
Ramirez put Miami ahead in the fifth inning with a three-run blast into the left-field bleachers, a lead the club wouldn't relinquish. It marked the 24-year-old's first homer of the season after a slow start, with Monday's performance raising his OPS from .617 to .731 through 16 games. Coming off a rookie campaign in 2025 in which he tallied 21 homers and 33 doubles, Ramirez will look to build on this effort and generate more extra-base production moving forward.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Still looking for rhythm at plate
Rotowire
Ramirez went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's split-squad game against the Nationals.
The 24-year-old catcher has struggled to get much going in Grapefruit League action, as Friday's double was his first hit in camp and he's batting just .053 (1-for-19) with a 1:8 BB:K. Ramirez also went 1-for-7 with a double in two games for the Dominican Republic during the WBC. After a 2025 rookie season that saw Ramirez slash .231/.287/.413 with 21 homers and 16 steals over 136 games, he's looking for more consistency -- both at the plate and behind it -- in his sophomore campaign.

Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Working hard to improve defense
Rotowire
Ramirez has committed himself this offseason to improving his defense behind the plate, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. "I was learning something new every game," Ramirez said Wednesday about his rookie campaign in the majors. "That's what I was experiencing last season. I'm coming with that experience this year. It feels really good because you know exactly where to go and what to do."
The 24-year-old has already impressed with the offensive side of his game -- he was the first rookie catcher in MLB history to record 20 homers and 15 steals in a season -- but Ramirez's defense needs a lot of work. He spent the offseason in the Dominican Republic working on his mobility, to improve his range and ability to block balls in the dirt, but that's not the only hole in his skill set. Ramirez's minus-14 defensive runs saves in 2025 included a rough 8.8 percent caught-stealing rate, as base stealers were successful on 82 of 91 attempts against him. His bat will be a fixture in the Marlins' lineup in 2026, but if Ramirez's defense continues to be an issue, he could be moved to first base or DH considering top catching prospect Joe Mack is knocking on the door at Triple-A.
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Ramirez will get the afternoon off Saturday after making 14 consecutive starts. He went 15-for-57 (.263) with a pair of home runs and four stolen bases during that stretch. Liam Hicks will draw the start behind the plate while Troy Johnston slots in at DH.

Rotowire
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Sunday's win against the Mets.
Ramirez snapped a 12-game homerless drought with his two-run blast in the third inning Sunday. He's up to 19 on the year, though just two of those have come in his last 26 appearances. Ramirez was stuck in a 4-for-33 (.121) skid over nine contests before collecting multiple hits in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday. He's now slashing .233/.290/.430 with 48 extra-base hits and 60 RBI through 482 plate appearances.

Rotowire
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 12-5 win over the Giants.
Ramirez has logged a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last six games, going 8-for-22 (.364) with two homers and seven RBI in that span. The catcher is warming up but still has a .247/.294/.466 slash line through 55 contests overall. He's added 12 homers, 30 RBI, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles and one stolen base through his first 55 MLB contests. Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Homer powers victory
Rotowire
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBI in Friday's 6-2 win over Atlanta.
Ramirez knocked out his 11th home run of the season, a big three-run home run that proved to be all the Marlins would need to win the game. The rookie has been excellent in his debut campaign while splitting time between catcher and designated hitter, slashing .239/.290/.458 in his 201 at-bats. The hits have come in bunches for the 23-year-old lately -- he has five multi-hit games over his last 13 contests, but only 13 total hits over that same timeframe -- so the next step will be finding a way to develop more consistency.
