McCray is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

McCray enjoyed a brief run as a strong-side platoon player after being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 1, but he appears to have moved into a bench role. Drew Gilbert will get a third straight start Sunday and has seemingly taken over as the Giants' primary right fielder.

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Smith had started at first base or designated hitter in seven of the previous nine games, but he'll see a downturn in playing time with Wilmer Flores (hamstring) making his return to the starting nine Sunday. The Giants are likely to lean on a combination of Rafael Devers and Flores at first base and designated hitter more often than not, though Smith could replace Flores against some right-handed pitchers.

Flores (hamstring) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Before providing a pinch-hit sacrifice fly and playing an inning at first base Saturday, Flores had gone more than a week without making an appearance while he managed a left hamstring injury. The veteran infielder apparently checked out fine after his brief cameo, so he'll rejoin the starting nine while Dominic Smith heads to the bench.

Garcia (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Garcia will miss a third straight contest while he manages a tight back, but the Nationals are viewing him as day-to-day after an MRI came back negative, per MLB.com. According to Andrew Golden of The Washington Post, Garcia was spotted fielding grounders prior to Sunday's game, which could bode well for his chances of returning to the lineup Monday in Kansas City.

Atlanta designated Gonzalez for assignment Sunday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

He'll surrender his spot on the 40-man roster to waiver claim Connor Seabold. A 25-year-old right-hander, Gonzalez has yet to make his MLB debut and has spent the entire 2025 season at Triple-A Gwinnett, logging a 3.95 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB in 41 innings out of the bullpen.

Atlanta claimed Seabold off waivers from Tampa Bay on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Though he'll report to Triple-A, Seabold will provide Atlanta with organizational starting pitching depth as the big club navigates numerous injuries to its rotation. Seabold made a pair of multi-inning relief appearances for Tampa Bay but has primarily worked out of the rotation at Triple-A Durham this season, logging a 6.49 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 57:26 K:BB across 61 innings.

Kemp is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

With Edmundo Sosa emerging as the Phillies' preferred option at third base in the absence of Alec Bohm (rib), Kemp will be on the bench for the second day in a row. Kemp has posted a respectable .740 OPS since the All-Star break but has struck out at a 30.9 percent clip.

Kepler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

With southpaw Patrick Corbin starting for the Rangers, Kepler will take a seat for the series finale. Weston Wilson will replace Kepler in left field and bat ninth.

Marsh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Marsh will take a seat while Texas sends southpaw Patrick Corbin to the hill. Harrison Bader will replace Marsh in center field and bat sixth.

Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

After starting the last three games, Frelick will join Christian Yelich and Brice Turang on the bench as Milwaukee leans heavily on right-handed bats to counter Mets southpaw Sean Manaea. Brandon Lockridge will spell Frelick in right field and bat eighth.
