  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Pulled off rehab assignment

The Rockies returned Doyle (oblique) from his rehab assignment Sunday, but he remains on the 10-day injured list. Placed on the IL on May 21 due to a left oblique contusion, Doyle made enough progress in his recovery to resume playing in games for Triple-A Albuquerque on June 23. He went 7-for-22 with one home run and one stolen base over six contests, but he tweaked his left groin last weekend and then aggravated the injury again Saturday. Now back in Denver, Doyle is scheduled to undergo further evaluation from the Rockies' medical staff before the team determines a treatment plan. Doyle will likely remain on the shelf through at least the All-Star break.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Overcomes groin issue on rehab

Doyle (oblique/groin) is expected to resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Doyle landed on the 10-day injured list back in late May because of a left oblique contusion, but it's groin tightness that's held him out of action since Sunday. As long as he doesn't encounter another setback, Doyle still has a good chance to return to the Rockies' active roster before the All-Star break.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Scratched with groin tightness

Doyle (oblique) was scratched from a rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday due to groin tightness, MLB.com reports. Doyle had made four rehab appearances prior to the new injury, collecting four hits across 16 at-bats. The extent of the groin issue is unclear, though it's likely to push back Doyle's potential return by at least a couple of days.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Still no baseball activity

Doyle (oblique) has yet to resume baseball activity, MLB.com reports. Doyle is feeling no pain in his oblique when doing everyday activities, but he apparently isn't feeling well enough to make meaningful progress toward a return. He does not have a targeted return date, but late June looks to be the best-case scenario.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Day-to-day with oblique bruise

The Rockies announced that Doyle is considered day-to-day after suffering a left oblique contusion during Tuesday's 10-0 loss to the Rangers, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports. Doyle isn't expected to play in Wednesday's series finale while he continues to be monitored, but the Rockies haven't decided on his availability for their upcoming seven-game road trip. The 28-year-old has posted a career-worst .549 OPS so far this season and appears to have moved into a short-side platoon role in center field in recent weeks.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exits Tuesday with side contusion

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said that Doyle was removed from Tuesday's 10-0 loss to the Rangers prior to the start of the second inning due to a left side contusion, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Doyle didn't record an at-bat before exiting the game shortly after he was shaken up while attempting to make a diving catch in the top of the first inning. Schaeffer said that Doyle will be re-evaluated early Wednesday before the Rockies determine his status for the series finale.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exits early Tuesday

Doyle was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers with an apparent injury, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Doyle seemed to be a little shaken up after landing awkwardly on his left side/shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch in the first inning, and he was replaced on defense at the start of the second frame. The severity of his injury is unclear, but if he's forced to miss additional games, Tyler Freeman could receive more reps in the outfield.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Another day off Thursday

Doyle is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt versus the Padres. It's the second straight day out of the lineup for Doyle, though he did get a plate appearance off the bench Wednesday (and struck out). Doyle has been in the Rockies' lineup for less than 70 percent of his team's games thus far, which is not a rate fantasy managers had in mind when they took the outfielder in drafts this spring. The 27-year-old hasn't exactly made a case to play more, having put together just a .206/.270/.279 batting line and 35.1 percent strikeout rate through 24 contests. Jake McCarthy will make a second consecutive start in center field for the Rockies in Thursday's matinee.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Getting breather Monday

Doyle is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto. Doyle went hitless during the Rockies' season-opening series in Miami, so he'll get a day to unplug as the club opens a three-game set versus the Blue Jays. Jake McCarthy will slide over to center field and Troy Johnstone will start in right field Monday.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: MRI reveals sprain

Doyle was diagnosed with a sprained left wrist Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Doyle has been held out of Cactus League action since he was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a wrist injury. Now that imaging has confirmed he suffered a sprain, the Rockies will keep him on the bench for a few more days before taking another look at him.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Awaiting imaging results on wrist

Doyle underwent imaging on his left wrist after the injury forced him to be scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Cubs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Rockies had said previously that Doyle being scratched was precautionary, but him being sent for imaging suggests there's some level of concern. The results of the imaging are not in yet but might be available later Thursday. If Doyle is forced to miss time, the Rockies could shift Jake McCarthy over to center field.

In that span, he's batting .324 (24-for-74) while adding four home runs, six doubles and 15 RBI.
