  • White Sox's Brenton Doyle: Gets chance at leadoff

Doyle went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base Sunday against the Guardians. Doyle started his fourth game since joining the White Sox at the trade deadline, all of which have come against lefties. He had a strong showing Sunday, performing well out of the leadoff spot. Doyle led off the home half of the first inning with a single and stolen base before coming around to score. He looks to be locked into a small-side platoon for the time being, but Doyle's recent change of scenery could prove to be beneficial.

  • White Sox's Brenton Doyle: Catches on with White Sox

The White Sox acquired Doyle from the Rockies on Monday in exchange for right-hander Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. According to Rosenthal, both teams are reviewing the medicals of all players involved in the deal before completing the trade, but barring any snags, Doyle will head to Chicago, where he should settle in as a fourth outfielder. Since supplying a .763 OPS with 23 home runs and 30 steals in 149 games for the Rockies in 2024, Doyle's offensive production has taken a major step back over the past two seasons while his strikeout rate has climbed. That said, the two-time Gold Glove Award winner still provides strong defense in center field, and his right-handedness will bring more balance to a Chicago outfield that features three left-handed bats in Sam Antonacci, Tristan Peters and Andrew Benintendi.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Returns to Colorado

The Rockies reinstated Doyle (groin) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Doyle has been out since May 21 after suffering a left oblique contusion and a subsequent groin injury. Prior to being sidelined, the 28-year-old batted .207/.279/.270 with one home run, four RBI and nine stolen bases in 122 plate appearances. Colorado optioned Braxton Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque to clear space for Doyle on the 26-man roster.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Scratched with groin tightness

Doyle (oblique) was scratched from a rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday due to groin tightness, MLB.com reports. Doyle had made four rehab appearances prior to the new injury, collecting four hits across 16 at-bats. The extent of the groin issue is unclear, though it's likely to push back Doyle's potential return by at least a couple of days.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Still no baseball activity

Doyle (oblique) has yet to resume baseball activity, MLB.com reports. Doyle is feeling no pain in his oblique when doing everyday activities, but he apparently isn't feeling well enough to make meaningful progress toward a return. He does not have a targeted return date, but late June looks to be the best-case scenario.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Day-to-day with oblique bruise

The Rockies announced that Doyle is considered day-to-day after suffering a left oblique contusion during Tuesday's 10-0 loss to the Rangers, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports. Doyle isn't expected to play in Wednesday's series finale while he continues to be monitored, but the Rockies haven't decided on his availability for their upcoming seven-game road trip. The 28-year-old has posted a career-worst .549 OPS so far this season and appears to have moved into a short-side platoon role in center field in recent weeks.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exits Tuesday with side contusion

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said that Doyle was removed from Tuesday's 10-0 loss to the Rangers prior to the start of the second inning due to a left side contusion, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Doyle didn't record an at-bat before exiting the game shortly after he was shaken up while attempting to make a diving catch in the top of the first inning. Schaeffer said that Doyle will be re-evaluated early Wednesday before the Rockies determine his status for the series finale.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Exits early Tuesday

Doyle was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers with an apparent injury, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Doyle seemed to be a little shaken up after landing awkwardly on his left side/shoulder while attempting to make a diving catch in the first inning, and he was replaced on defense at the start of the second frame. The severity of his injury is unclear, but if he's forced to miss additional games, Tyler Freeman could receive more reps in the outfield.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Another day off Thursday

Doyle is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt versus the Padres. It's the second straight day out of the lineup for Doyle, though he did get a plate appearance off the bench Wednesday (and struck out). Doyle has been in the Rockies' lineup for less than 70 percent of his team's games thus far, which is not a rate fantasy managers had in mind when they took the outfielder in drafts this spring. The 27-year-old hasn't exactly made a case to play more, having put together just a .206/.270/.279 batting line and 35.1 percent strikeout rate through 24 contests. Jake McCarthy will make a second consecutive start in center field for the Rockies in Thursday's matinee.

Doyle is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto. • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: MRI reveals sprain

Doyle was diagnosed with a sprained left wrist Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Doyle has been held out of Cactus League action since he was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a wrist injury. Now that imaging has confirmed he suffered a sprain, the Rockies will keep him on the bench for a few more days before taking another look at him.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Awaiting imaging results on wrist

Doyle underwent imaging on his left wrist after the injury forced him to be scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Cubs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Rockies had said previously that Doyle being scratched was precautionary, but him being sent for imaging suggests there's some level of concern. The results of the imaging are not in yet but might be available later Thursday. If Doyle is forced to miss time, the Rockies could shift Jake McCarthy over to center field.

  • Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Swipes bag Friday

Doyle went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-0 win over the Padres. Doyle has picked up the pace on the basepaths with five steals over his last 20 games. In that span, he's batting .324 (24-for-74) while adding four home runs, six doubles and 15 RBI. The outfielder has provided a decent mix of power and speed, though not at the same level as he showed last year. He's racked up 14 homers, 19 doubles, 16 steals, 54 RBI, 52 runs scored and a .247/.291/.395 slash line across 120 contests, but he's been much more consistent in recent weeks.
