Jesus Tinoco RP | MIA
Marlins' Jesus Tinoco: Resumes throwing program
Tinoco (forearm) resumed a throwing program Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Tinoco has missed much of June with a right forearm strain but has been cleared to play catch. The right-handed reliever will likely require a rehab assignment before being activated from the 15-day injured list.

Braxton Garrett SP | MIA
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Begins throwing program
Garrett (elbow) played catch Monday for the first time since having UCL revision surgery with an internal brace on his left elbow in December, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Garrett took the first major step in what will be a lengthy rehab process. He will be sidelined for the entire 2025 season but could be ready in time for Opening Day in 2026 if he can avoid any setbacks in the coming months.

Brett Sullivan C | COL
Pirates' Brett Sullivan: Removed from 40-man roster
The Pirates designated Sullivan for assignment Monday.
The club needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Dauri Moreta (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list. Booting Sullivan from the active roster suggests the Pirates are preparing for Joey Bart (concussion) to be activated prior to Tuesday's game in Detroit.

Luis Garcia 1B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Taking seat Monday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
The left-handed-hitting Garcia had started in each of the Nationals' last eight games -- including three matchups versus southpaws -- but he'll move to the bench for the series opener while lefty Carson Palmquist takes the bump for Colorado. With fresh call-up Brady House making his MLB debut Monday and likely to serve as the Nationals' everyday third baseman moving forward, the right-handed-hitting Amed Rosario could end up spelling Garcia more frequently at second base when the Nationals face lefties. Rosario had previously occupied the short side of a platoon at the hot corner with Jose Tena, who was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to open up a roster spot for House.

Dauri Moreta RP | PIT
Pirates' Dauri Moreta: Activated and optioned
The Pirates activated Moreta (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Moreta has made 18 rehab appearances as he comes back from Tommy John surgery, allowing five runs with a 21:12 K:BB over 16.2 innings. The 29-year-old will continue to knock some rust off at Triple-A Indianapolis while he awaits another opportunity at the big-league level.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Nationals' Josh Bell: On bench against southpaw
Bell is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Though the switch-hitting Bell started in two of the Nationals' previous three matchups with left-handed hurlers, he'll hit the bench Monday as the Rockies send southpaw Carson Palmquist to the hill. James Wood will get a day off from playing the outfield and will assume Bell's usual duties as Washington's designated hitter.
-
Nate Lowe DH | CIN
Nationals' Nathaniel Lowe: Idle against southpaw
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Even though he owns a lowly .209/.250/.302 slash line against left-handed pitching this season, the lefty-hitting Lowe typically starts in those matchups, but he'll get Monday off while southpaw Carson Palmquist toes the rubber for Colorado. Andres Chaparro will step in for Lowe at first base and will bat cleanup.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Sitting for series opener
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Ruiz remains the Nationals' No. 1 backstop, but he's been sitting against left-handed starting pitchers more frequently of late while manager Dave Martinez looks to keep backup catcher Riley Adams involved. Adams will be behind the plate Monday as the Nationals face off against southpaw Carson Palmquist, but Ruiz will likely re-enter the lineup Tuesday versus righty Antonio Senzatela.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Giants' Justin Verlander: Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Verlander (pectoral) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Verlander completed a 65-pitch simulated game last Wednesday and a bullpen session Saturday, clearing the way for his return to the Giants rotation. He will be skipping a rehab assignment and will likely be looking at a maximum of around 80 pitches Wednesday versus Cleveland. Verlander has posted a 4.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 41:21 K:BB across 52 innings this season and is still looking for his first win.
