Reds' Zach Maxwell: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Maxwell to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Maxwell's latest stint in the majors lasted just one day, with the right-hander going unused out of the bullpen Sunday in the Reds' 1-0 loss to the Pirates. He'll give up his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Chase Petty, who was recalled from Louisville ahead of his start Monday against the Cubs.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Quick return to majors
The Reds recalled Maxwell from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
The right-hander was optioned to Louisville after Friday's game but will quickly rejoin Cincinnati's bullpen with Pierce Johnson being placed on the bereavement list. Maxwell surrendered four earned runs over one inning during his season debut for the Reds against the Pirates on Friday.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Returning to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Maxwell to Triple-A Louisville following Friday's game against the Pirates.
The move corresponds with the Reds activating right-hander Graham Ashcraft (personal) from the bereavement list Saturday. Maxwell was roughed up during Friday's outing against Pittsburgh, as he allowed four runs on three hits (including two homers) and two walks while striking out one batter in one inning of work. He'll return to Triple-A, where he has a 5.91 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB across 10.2 innings this season.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Optioned to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Maxwell to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
Maxwell struggled to limit traffic on the basepaths during spring training, posting a 5.40 ERA and 2.04 WHIP over 8.1 innings, though he managed to collect 13 strikeouts in that span. If the 25-year-old can right the ship at Louisville, the Reds may consider recalling him to join the big-league bullpen as a depth piece.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Officially brought up
The Reds selected Maxwell's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.
Maxwell will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game. The 24-year-old reliever has a 4.17 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP with a 59:32 K:BB across 49.2 innings for Louisville in 2025. Ian Gibaut (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Headed to majors
The Reds plan to select Maxwell's contract from Triple-A Louisville ahead of Friday's game versus Arizona, Chase Ford of MiLB Central reports.
Cincinnati will need to add Maxwell to the 40-man and 26-man rosters. A sixth-round pick in the 2022 Draft, Maxwell's next appearance will be his MLB debut. The right-hander has pitched in 51 games out of the bullpen at Triple-A this season and has registered a 4.17 ERA and 10.7 K/9 across 49.2 innings. He's been nearly perfect in August with a 0.96 ERA and 13 strikeouts over 9.1 innings.

Reds' Zach Maxwell: Dominating at Triple-A
Maxwell has a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 17:3 K:BB in 10.2 innings over his last 10 appearances for Triple-A Louisville.
One of the best relief-pitching prospect in the minors, Maxwell came into the year with significant control issues, and that has still been an issue (16.7 percent walk rate on the year). He struggled initially after getting promoted from Double-A Chattanooga on May 21, but this recent stretch could make him an option for the big-league club in the second half.
