  • Yankees' Ali Sanchez: Placed on paternity leave

The Yankees placed Sanchez (wrist) on the paternity leave list Tuesday. Sanchez will be away from the club for a few days while welcoming a new baby to the family. The catcher exited Monday's contest versus the Tigers after being hit on the right wrist by a pitch. X-rays came back clean, but Sanchez still needs to undergo a CT scan, so it's possible he'll need to miss additional time after he's back from paternity leave.

  • Yankees' Ali Sanchez: X-rays come back negative

Sanchez took X-rays immediately following his early departure from Monday's game which came back negative, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports. After being replaced by Austin Wells in the top of the seventh, Sanchez's X-rays on his right wrist came back negative. Manager Aaron Boone said the catcher will go for a CT scan and is hopeful that this is just a "day to day thing."

  • Yankees' Ali Sanchez: Promotion coming

The Yankees will recall Sanchez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. The Yankees sent J.C. Escarra down to Triple-A shortly after Friday's game, so Sanchez will join the active roster to take over as New York's backup catcher. The 29-year-old owns just a .454 OPS across 133 plate appearances in his big-league career but has slashed .227/.327/.375 with six homers, 11 RBI and 18 runs in 40 games at Triple-A this year.

A defensive-minded catcher, Sanchez has slashed just .183/.220/.233 in 50 games at the big-league level across parts of four seasons. • Red Sox's Ali Sanchez: Back with Boston

The Red Sox acquired Sanchez from the Mets on Sunday in exchange for cash. Sanchez had been on a minor-league deal with the Mets after signing with the organization Aug. 23, but he'll end up joining the Red Sox's 28-man active roster after being dealt back to Boston, per Tim Healey of The Boston Globe. The Red Sox had previously claimed the 28-year-old backstop off waivers from Toronto on Aug. 8, and he appeared in one game for the big club before being cast off the 40-man roster. He won't be in line for much playing time in September as the Red Sox's No. 3 catcher behind Carlos Narvaez and Connor Wong.

The 28-year-old has also spent time with the Blue Jays this season, and he slashed .279/.347/.419 in 199 plate appearances with their Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. Sanchez has appeared in just nine MLB games in 2025.

  • Red Sox's Ali Sanchez: Picked up by Red Sox

The Red Sox claimed Sanchez off waivers Friday. Sanchez will provide some catching depth after being designated for assignment by Toronto on Tuesday. Carlos Narvaez is currently tending to knee soreness, and Sanchez could see action if Boston's starter is forced to miss time. Per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, the Red Sox plan to have Sanchez join the rest of the team in San Diego as part of the 26-man roster.

  • Blue Jays' Ali Sanchez: Designated for assignment

The Blue Jays designated Sanchez for assignment Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The Blue Jays had no use for Sanchez following Alejandro Kirk's return from the injured list Sunday, so the former will now lose his place on the MLB and 40-man rosters. Buddy Kennedy was selected from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the vacant spot.

  • Blue Jays' Ali Sanchez: Inks minor-league deal with Toronto

The Blue Jays signed Sanchez to a minor-league contract Friday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. However, the 28-year-old catcher declined his assignment and elected free agency. Nonetheless, Sanchez has opted to stick around with the Blue Jays organization and will report back to Triple-A. The Blue Jays selected Sanchez's contract from Triple-A Buffalo, and he'll start behind the plate and bat eighth Sunday against the Rays. Sanchez had a .401 OPS in 96 plate appearances with the Marlins last season. He'll likely see infrequent playing time for the Blue Jays since Alejandro Kirk is locked is as the team's No. 1 backstop.

The Blue Jays signed Sanchez to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. • Marlins' Ali Sanchez: Taking seat Sunday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. Sanchez had started in each of the Marlins' previous three matchups with right-handed starters, but he'll cede catching duties to Nick Fortes in the series finale while the Giants send right-hander Logan Webb to the hill. Sanchez and Fortes will likely continue to operate in a timeshare down the stretch, and the Marlins' catching picture could become even murkier with Miami using one of its two September call-ups on a third backstop in Jhonny Pereda.

  • Marlins' Ali Sanchez: Swipes two bags Thursday

Sanchez went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's win over the Rockies. The catcher came into the game with zero pilfers in 36 career big-league games and has never swiped more than two bags in a minor-league season, but Sanchez came home on a double steal with Connor Norby in the fourth inning before nabbing second base himself in the sixth. Sanchez has moved into a timeshare with Nick Fortes of late, starting four of the last eight games including the last two against right-handed pitchers, but Thursday's performance in Coors Field was his first multi-hit effort since July 12.
