Jhancarlos Lara SP | WAS
Braves' Jhancarlos Lara: Moved off 40-man roster
Atlanta designated Lara for assignment Wednesday.
Lara was a roster casualty with Atlanta needing to clear a 40-man spot for first baseman/designated hitter Rowdy Tellez, who was promoted from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. A 23-year-old righty, Lara was up with Atlanta for a brief spell last September but didn't get the chance to make his big-league debut. He had pitched exclusively for Double-A Columbus thus far in 2026, logging an 8.22 ERA, 2.65 WHIP and 21:29 K:BB in 15.1 innings.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL
Braves' Rowdy Tellez: Back in big leagues with Atlanta
Atlanta selected Tellez's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Atlanta placed star outfielder Ronald Acuna (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list, and as a result Tellez, an eight-year big-league veteran, will reach the majors for the first time in 2026. Though the 31-year-old Tellez showed during his time at Gwinnett that he can still hit for power (.483 slugging percentage) and get on base at a steady clip, he likely won't have a path to regular playing time while he's up with Atlanta. Unless Atlanta shows a willingness to use Dominic Smith in the corner outfield while Acuna is on the shelf, Tellez will likely be limited to a pinch-hitting role while Smith and Matt Olson are ahead of him on the depth chart at designated hitter and first base, respectively.

Ronald Acuna Jr. RF | ATL
Braves' Ronald Acuna: Lands on IL with strained hamstring
Atlanta placed Acuna on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a strained left hamstring.
Acuna injured his hamstring during Tuesday's loss to the White Sox while trying to beat out an infield single. The outfielder missed a little over two weeks of action in May with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, though it's unclear what the grade of strain is this time around. Atlanta could use Mauricio Dubon more in the outfield while Acuna is shelved, and Eli White should also see a boost in playing time.

Joey Bart C | ATL
Pirates' Joey Bart: Starting up rehab assignment
Bart (foot) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday at Single-A Bradenton, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Bart has reached the final phase of his recovery process from a left foot infection, which has kept him on the 10-day injured list since May 12. Given the length of his absence, Bart could remain on assignment in the minors through the weekend before the Pirates evaluate him for a return during their six-game road trip next week. Prior to being deactivated, Bart had produced a .669 OPS over 62 plate appearances on the season.

Rafael Flores C | PIT
Pirates' Rafael Flores: Moves up to big leagues
The Pirates recalled Flores from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Flores will likely be in line for a short-term stay with the Bucs during his first stint in the big leagues this season, as he's slated to provide Pittsburgh with another option at catcher behind Endy Rodriguez while Henry Davis (personal) is on the paternity list. While splitting time between catcher and first base at Triple-A this season, Flores has slashed .207/.320/.324 with four home runs in 53 games.

Henry Davis C | PIT
Pirates' Henry Davis: Goes on paternity leave
The Pirates placed Davis on the paternity list Wednesday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Davis will be away from the Pirates for 1-to-3 days while he welcomes his first child into the world. Pittsburgh recalled Rafael Flores from Triple-A Indianapolis to provide an additional option at catcher behind Endy Rodriguez while Davis is on paternity leave.

Luis Garcia 1B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Heading to bench Wednesday
Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
As per usual, the left-handed-hitting Garcia will find himself on the bench as the Giants send a southpaw (Robbie Ray) to the hill. Andres Chaparro will replace Garcia at first base and will bat third.
