  • Bryan Reynolds LF | PIT

Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Excluded from lineup

Reynolds is out of the lineup Monday against the Giants.

Reynolds will head to the bench for the series opener while the Pirates go with Jack Suwinski in right field. In 14 games since the All-Star break, Reynolds has been efficient at the dish, batting 18-for-59 (.305 average) with six doubles and six RBI.

  • Cardinals' Anthony Veneziano: Claimed off waivers by Cardinals

The Cardinals claimed Veneziano off waivers from the Marlins on Monday.

Veneziano has made 24 relief appearances in the majors this season, collecting a 4.71 ERA and 20:10 K:BB over 21 innings. He will report to Triple-A Memphis, where he will provide St. Louis with some experienced left-handed relief depth.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

    Pirates' Henry Davis: Idle Monday

Davis is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.

Davis will take a seat after going 0-for-7 with two strikeouts over his last two starts. Though he's been part of a timeshare at catcher with Joey Bart, Davis could eventually see a dip in playing time if he's unable to break out of his ongoing slump at the plate. In 10 games since the All-Star break, Davis has gone 1-for-30 with five walks and 11 strikeouts.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Remaining out of lineup

Frelick (knee) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.

Frelick will take a seat for the second day in a row, after he was removed from Saturday's 8-2 win over the Nationals as a precaution when he experienced soreness in his surgically repaired left knee. According to MLB.com, the Brewers are looking into long-term solutions for Frelick to treat his knee, but he's expected to avoid a stint on the injured list and move past the issue after a few days of rest. Brandon Lockridge will draw another start in right field Monday in place of Frelick.

  • Seth Halvorsen RP | COL

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Could return in 2025

Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer said Monday that Halvorsen has been diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his right elbow and could be activated from the 15-day injured list prior to the end of the season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Halvorsen was pulled after just five pitches in his relief appearance in the ninth inning of Saturday's 8-5 win over the Pirates and landed on the IL a day later. The good news for Halvorsen and the Rockies is that the 25-year-old does not have a serious injury that would have necessitated surgery, and if all goes smoothly in his recovery process, he could be back in action at some point in the next few weeks. Halvorsen has collected a 4.99 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 36:21 K:BB across 39.2 innings this season and has converted on 11 of 14 save attempts. Schaeffer mentioned Victor Vodnik and Juan Mejia as the top candidates to close games for the Rockies while Halvorsen is on the shelf.

  • Yohel Pozo DH | STL

Cardinals' Yohel Pozo: Out of lineup Monday

Pozo is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Dodgers.

Pozo has seen an uptick in playing time lately, having started three of the previous four games at catcher. However, he will begin Monday's festivities on the bench, as Pedro Pages will be behind the dish and bat eighth for the Cardinals.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Not in Monday's lineup

Gorman is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Gorman was a late insertion into the Cardinals' lineup Sunday in San Diego in place of Brendan Donovan (personal), marking his third straight start at the hot corner since Nolan Arenado (shoulder) was shelved. Thomas Saggese will start at third base and bat seventh Monday.

  • Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Lands on IL with shoulder sprain

The Diamondbacks placed Ginkel on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a sprained right shoulder, retroactive to Sunday.

Ginkel was slated to be in the closer mix after Shelby Miller (forearm) was traded to the Brewers, but the former will be shut down from throwing and undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury. With Ginkel sidelined, Kendall Graveman and Jalen Beeks could be in line for closing duties.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Returns to Cardinals' lineup

Donovan (personal) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the Dodgers.

Donovan had to be scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Padres due to a family emergency, but he has rejoined the Cardinals and is ready to go for Monday's series opener in Los Angeles. The All-Star has been scuffling at the plate lately, going 2-for-26 over his last 30 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Andrew Hoffmann: Called up by Arizona

The Diamondbacks recalled Hoffmann from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Hoffmann will take a spot on the Diamondbacks' 26 man roster that was vacated by Kevin Ginkel, who was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a sprained right shoulder. Hoffmann was acquired by the Diamondbacks from the Royals on July 26 in exchange for Randal Grichuk. Hoffmann has spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he has a 2.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 56:12 K:BB across 42 innings. He made his major-league debut for the Royals on May 30.
