  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Logs two hits in loss

Steer started in right field and went 2-for-4 with a double in Thursday's 8-1 loss to the Marlins.

Steer, who returned to the lineup after a one-day breather, raised his season batting average to .200 with the two hits. He's fighting back from a 1-for-17 start and is 7-for-23 (.304) with three doubles, a home run and two RBI in six games since.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Enters late, contributes to win

Moreno went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Mets.

Moreno doubled in a run as a pinch hitter and later scored in the seventh inning before adding to Arizona's lead with another run-producing double in the eighth. It was the fifth multi-hit effort in 12 games for Moreno, who is slashing .282/.341/.410 with five doubles and five RBI.

  • Jorge Barrosa CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Covers right field

Barrosa started in right field and went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Mets.

Barrosa filled in for Corbin Carroll (hip), who was held out for an injury that is not considered serious, per Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. The start was Barrosa's fifth straight and sixth over the last seven contests as he's covered all three spots in the outfield. Regular playing time became available when Jordan Lawlar (wrist) landed on the 60-day injured list. Barrosa is batting .217 (5-for-23) with one extra-base hit and three RBI through seven games.

  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Makes third straight start

Vargas started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Mets.

Vargas started for the third consecutive game, two at first base sandwiched around one at second. There's a path to playing time for the veteran switch hitter with both Pavin Smith (elbow) and Carlos Santana (groin) on the 10-day injured list, and Vargas has hit safely in all seven games he's played to begin the season, going 11-for-24 (.458) with four extra-base hits and four RBI.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Gets into homer column in loss

Doyle went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 12-inning loss to the Padres on Thursday.

Doyle produced the first run of the game with a 408-foot solo blast to center field in the third inning. The long ball was his first of the season and just his second extra-base hit of any kind. Doyle is still slashing just .175/.250/.275 on the campaign, with his biggest fantasy contribution being a pair of steals. He batted ninth in the order for the first time this season Thursday and may need additional productive performances to work his way up from that spot.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Slugs walk-off grand slam

Bogaerts went 2-for-6 with a grand slam, an additional run scored and two stolen bases in a 7-3 extra-innings win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Bogaerts had already put together a good fantasy line thanks to his two thefts when he came up to the plate with the bases loaded in a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the 12th inning. The veteran shortstop then launched a grand slam to left field to send San Diego home with the victory. Bogaerts started very slowly this season, posting a .308 OPS over his first eight games, but he's since turned things around, going 9-for-22 with two homers, five RBI and the pair of steals across his past five contests.

  • Rockies' Chase Dollander: Fares well behind opener

Dollander allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against San Diego on Thursday.

Dollander has yet to start a game this season, but he's completed at least four innings in all three of his appearances so far. The right-hander tossed 81 pitches Thursday, throwing 55 of them for strikes and getting a healthy 14 whiffs. Dollander opened the season in poor fashion by allowing four runs over four innings against Toronto on March 30 (while ironically picking up his lone win of the campaign so far), but he's since given up just two runs while posting a 9:2 K:BB across 8.2 frames over his subsequent two outings. It remains to be seen if he'll eventually be moved into a traditional starting role, but for now he seems to be feeling comfortable in bulk relief after struggling to a 2-12 record and 6.52 ERA across 21 appearances (all starts) as a rookie last season.

  • Padres' Randy Vasquez: Continues splendid start to season

Vasquez allowed one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Thursday.

Vasquez served up a solo homer to Brenton Doyle in the third inning but was otherwise unscored upon. He got 13 whiffs among his 92 pitches and struck out eight batters for the second time through three starts this season. Notably, Vasquez exceeded five punchouts just once in 28 outings (26 starts) during the regular season in 2025. The right-hander has been outstanding to begin the campaign, posting a 1.02 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB through 17.2 frames. He's become an intriguing option in all fantasy leagues, especially considering his increased strikeout numbers.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Dealing with middle finger injury

Goodman suffered a right middle finger laceration during Thursday night's contest against San Diego, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Goodman took a fastball off his right hand while batting in the top of the sixth inning, and he now has an official diagnosis after exiting the contest. The catcher's status will likely be updated ahead of Friday's second contest of the Rockies' four-game set in San Diego, but he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Exits early after HBP

Goodman exited Thursday's contest against the Padres in sixth inning with an apparent finger injury after being hit by a pitch, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Goodman was struck in the hand by a 95.1-mph fastball from San Diego starter Randy Vasquez to open the top of the sixth inning. The catcher tried to finish the frame, but he was ultimately removed from the contest with one out in the inning. Goodman's finger was bleeding at the time of his removal, and more information on his status will likely be provided in the near future. In the meantime, Brett Sullivan has taken over behind the plate against the Padres.
